Joseph Windle, Nellie Hockman Crabill and Bertha Little Godlove

Seated: Joseph Windle (1821 - 1895); We believe he was the son of Jacob and Katherine Windle. He served in the Confederate Army as a private of the 2nd Virginia Infantry, Company C. Prior service, 136th Virginia Militia, Company F. His occupational trade was a tailor. He remained single, but legend goes he had many lady suitors. He's final resting place is in the old Jacob Windle Cemetery.

The ladies are:

On Left: Nellie Hockman (1874 - 1956); She was the daughter of Cornelius Hockman and Keturah Ellen Fravel whom are buried in the John Hockman Cemetery off Mumaw Road. Nellie married Milton Rice Crabill December 29, 1898 in Shenandoah County, Virginia. Milton and Nellie are at rest in Lebanon Church Cemetery.

On Right: Bertha Little (1875-1949); She was born in Warren County, Virginia, the daughter of Charles E. and Mary S. Little. She married Elmer Godlove of Hardy County West Virginia on December 31, 1899 in Shenandoah County, Virginia. Elmer and Bertha are at rest in Lebanon Church Cemetery.
