In the Name of God Amen. I, William Daniel of Mecklenburg County and Parish of Saint James being weak in body but of sound memory and knowing the uncertainty of this mortal life do constitute and ordain this my last will and testament. Imprimis. Item. I lend my beloved wife Marget (sic) Daniel all my lands (except one hundred acres and one Negro girl Jenny allotted to my son Thomas) all my Negroes, stock, and household furniture during her widowhood, she maintaining my children till they arrive to the age of twenty-one years. Item. I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Daniel one hundred acres of land to be taken out of the tract whereon I now live the cross line to begin at the branch where James Anderson's line and my own meets thence up the said branch to a high land point and thence as thought a course as conveniently may be to Tignal Jones, Jr.'s line to him and his heirs forever. Likewise I give and bequeath to my son Thomas one Negro wench named Phillis…(2 or three lines of text impossible to see).

p. 397: …and his heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath to my son William Daniel the following Negroes: Aggy, Newton, and Dilly and their increase (daughter a child that I have previously given to my son Edward (or Edmund?) that Betty may bring (sic) and choose of my feather beds one black mare colt out of which one black horse called Lightfoot and one called Figure my musquet gun and my rifle given to him and his heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath to my son William Daniel all the residue of my lands being three hundred and thirty two acres to him and his heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath to my son John Daniel one Negro girl named Chenor and a boy named Drury, two feather beds and furniture, a bay mare named Poll and her increase, one old black horse one sheep and two small guns given to him and his heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Milly Toone one hundred pounds to her and her heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sally Wall a bond from Peter Wall to me and what is due thereon to her and her heirs forever. Item. My will and desire is that all my cattle and household furniture not heretofore bequeathed be equally divided between my sons Thomas, William, and John. Lastly, I do appoint my sons Thomas Daniel and William Daniel Executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other wills by me formerly made. Given under my hand and seal this 21st day of September 1780.
