In the name of God, Amen, I John Brame being sick of
Body though of sound Sense and perfect Memory, do make constitute and ordain
this my last Will and Testament in Manner and Form following, I recommend my
Soul to God who gave it my Body to be intered at the Discretion of Executors.
Item. My Will and Desire is that all lawful Debts & Dues be paid out of
Monies raised out of my Estate at the Discretion of my Executors.
Item. I
lend to my loving Wife Mary Brame, Two hundred Acres of Land together with the
House and Plantation whereon I now live, adjoining the Lands of Robert Marshall
and James Grigory, together with the following Estate towit. Negros Ben, Cayah,
Hannah, Anna and David, as also thru her choice of my Feather Beds and
Furniture, and half the Remainder of my Household Furniture, exclusive of beds
all my Kitchen Furniture, with her choice of Ten Head of Cattle and two Horses
towit Jack & Buck and all my Stock of Hogs Geese{geese is crossed out}, Sheep,
Geese etc until such

such Time as my Daughter Nancy
Brame arrives to the Age of Ten Years, if she lives, or during the same Term of
Time should the sd Nancy Brame die under that Age. Which estate is thus lent to
raise my younger children upon
Item. At the expiration of the above
mentioned Term, I lend to my loving Wife Mary Brame the Negros, Cayah, Ben, {Ben
is crossed out} Hannah & Anna during her natural Life. As also the sd lent Land,
Plantation and House as aforesaid as also Eight Head of Cattle, her Choice of
one Horse, the third Part of the Hogs & Sheep and half of my Household & Kitchen
Furniture during her natural life. And this Estate above lent, at my Wife's
Decease is to be sold, and the Money equally divided among my then surviving
children, or their heirs lawfully begotton.
Item. My Will and Desire is
that all The Residue of my Estate, both Real and personal, be sold at the
Discretion of my executors, as soon As they shall see proper, after my Decease

and the Money equally divided as afore said, among my
children here after named To wit, Richens Brame, Thomas Brame, Joseph Brame,
William Brame, John Brame, James Dabney Brame, (daughters) Susanna Brame, Polly
Brame, Betsy Brame, Nancy Brame.
Item. I appoint my loving Wife Mary
Brame, My sons Richens Brame & Thomas Brame, also Peter Hutcheson and Thomas
Norman and Samuel Brame, Executors to this my last will and Testament, Revoking
and disannulling all and every other Will or Wills by me before made, ratifying
and confirming this & none others to be my last Will and Testament, sealed with
my seal & dated this first day of January 17 & ninety three

At a court held for Mecklenburg County the 10th day of June 1793
This will was proved by the oaths of James Reamy, John Wilson, and James
Gregory
Witness there to and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of Mary
Brame, Richins Brame Jr., and Peter Hutcheson three of the Exors therein named &
who made oath thereto and together with Thomas Norment and Samuel Brame their
securities entered into and acknowledged their bond in the penalty of two
thousand pounds conditioned as the law dictates certificate was granted them for
obtaining a probal of the said will in due form, previous to which said Thomas
Norment and Samuel Brame two other exors named in said will refused to take upon
them the Executorship there of. Liberty being reserved for Thomas Brame the
other Exor therein named to join in the probal where he shall think fit.
