"My research led me to La Crosse last April 1998 where I met
a man by the name of Ryland Rash. He gave me the following information about the
this church." - Ann Martin
Built in 1888 under Rev. W. R. Smithey, with
six members: J. H. Hagood, Mrs. Rosa Northington, Mrs. Florence Hagood, Mrs.
Viola Montgomery, Dr. Sterling Northington, and James Davis. Mrs. Ann Perkinson
donated the land. In 1909 Mrs. Ann Perkinson sold more land for $100 with the
condition Mr. Samuel Montgomery be buried on the lot with his wife adjoining the
church lot.
My great grandfather Samuel Northington Montgomery and Emma
Jane (Bugg) Montgomery are buried behind this church in a small family plot.
There are also several grandchildren buried along with Samuel and Emma.
