Attended Tabernacle Methodist Church. He bought a farm near Grassy Creek Church which he los. George and his wife moved to Fuquay Varina and lived near Cora Ann and Eddie on a farm that was owned by Renno Cotten. Later Cora Ann introduced Renno to Dorothy Henderson and she married Renno Cotten. George had blue eyes and sang tenor in the choir. He is buried at Wake Chapel Christian Church (919-552-6321).

Sallie Lynch "Bunch" Gold was born on August 1,1874 in Mecklenburg Virginia. She was the daughter of John B. Gold and Martha Ramsey .
Sallie Lynch Gold first married Henry Lewis Henderson on February 1,1893 in Vance County, North Carolina. Henry Lewis Henderson was the son of James Lewis Henderson and Sarah Elizabeth Nethery. He grew up in the Grassy Creek Community of North Carolina. Sallie and Henry lived in the area of Townsville, NC. They had one daughter Martha Flora Henderson before Henry died an untimely death.

Sallie Lynch Gold then married John Henry Mathews. She was the 2nd wife of John . He had 2 children from his first wife, Kemp and Roger. His first wife, Ms Williamson died. Over the next fifteen years she and John had six children-Sallie, Junius, Lewis, Frank, Alice and Rosa. All of the children lived with Sallie and John. They all loved to fish and often the entire family would go on fishing outings in their wagons.

Sallie could play the banjo.

In 1952 John suffered a stroke and Sallie took care of him until his death . Sallie went to live with her daughter Rosa Dise who lived in Henderson. Sallie died of a stroke at the age of 82 and is buried in Rock Springs Cemetery.

Notes for JUNIUS EDWARD HENDERSON:
Uncle Junnie was a bachelor who lived with his parents until they both died. He and his brother James had a company together called Henderson Brothers. They had an egg farm and worked together all of their lives. He lived across the street from Gladys and James all of his life, farmed side by side with them, ate most days with them , taught all of their children to drive and always had time to listen. He died of Cancer and left a void that we all still feel today.

Arthur Nethery was a friend of Beauna Henderson and Roy Hope. Arthur went to the house of Beauna, daughter of George Daniel Henderson, with a ladder and helped her run off and marry Roy Hope. Arthur was the son of James Daniel Nethery . Jim Nethery and George Henderson had been best friends for a long time, but after Arthur helped Beauna run off with Roy Hope, George and Jim did not speak for a long time.

Notes for JAMES HENRY HENDERSON:
James and Junnie lived with their parents all of their lives, farming and working together. James went to war during WWII and was at Dachau a few days after it was liberated. When he returned home he returned to farming and working at Rose Gin Supply Co. in Henderson, NC.
In 1957 there was a blight on the tobacco farming in Granville County. George's- Grandaddy Henderson- brother Eddie and his wife Cora Ann were living in Harnett County. Eddie talked Grandaddy into leasing the Mitchell Farm in Harnett County and moving down to farm, letting the fields in Granville County rest. They all moved to Harnett County to farm for 2 years. Granny Henderson became ill and Uncle Junnie and Daddy accompanied her to the office of Dr. Wiliford. There was a nurse in the office , Gladys, who was promptly asked to lunch by the handsome James. They soon married and she moved to Oxford with her new family. The Henderson family, George, Sallie, Junnie, and James were all wonderful people who made Gladys a part of their lives immediately.

Notes for NANCY COTTEN:
Nancy was coming home from college when she heard a noise. She stopped by the side of the road. She was seen by people passing by and told them that she thought she had a flat tire as she heard a noise, but she didn't have a flat. She got back into her car and approximately 1-2 miles down the road, the car ran off the road and flipped killing her instantly. It was later thought that the steering mechanism had snapped in her Pinto.

Angela was previously married and divorced. She met Bryant when she was looking for someone to baby sit her infant. She was single and needed someone to watch Nicole from the time the day care closed until she got off work. Bryant was single with 2 children, James and Tracie. Byrant got off work in time to pick up the children from day care before they closed. He agreed to baby sit Nicole (approx. 8 months old at that time) after day care ended until Angie could pick her up in trade for an occasional Saturday off to go fishing. He had been a single parent for 5 years. Bryant and Angie were divorced and Michelle continued to live with Bryant. One of the most difficult parts of the divorce was that Nicole could not continue to live with Bryant. He had been her father since she was 8 months old and he felt that he was losing his child.
