Garner TUCKER to John BEVILL 1780 Deed

This Indenture made this eighth day of January one thousand seven hundred and eighty between Garner Tucker of the County of Mecklenburg of the one part and John Bevill of the County aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Garner Tucker for and in consideration of the sum of three thousand pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid the receipt hereof I do hereby acknowledge hath given granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth give, grant, bargain, sell, enfeoff and confirm unto him the said John Bevill his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Mecklenburg on Butchers Creek containing one hundred and fifty acres of land more or less being at a corner hickory joining Edward Bevill's line thence down the road to Richard Jones line thence along Richard Jones line to a corner hickory thence straight course east down to the Creek thence up the Creek to Murphey's branch thence up the branch to Edward Bevill's line thence along Bevill's line to the being thereunto had together with all and singular the privileges and appurteances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the said John Bevill his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever To have and to hold the above sold land and premises with all and singular the privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging unto him the said John Bevill his heirs executors administrators or assigns forever to have hold use occupy possess and enjoy the same with every part and parcel thereof unto him the said John Bevill his heirs executors administrators and assigns and against the claim or demand of any other person or persons whatsoever shall and will by these presents warrant and forever defend In witness whereof I the said Garner Tucker hath hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year above written.

Memorandum that on the 8th day of January one thousand seven hundred and eighty quiet and peaceable possession of the within land and premises was given and made by me Garner Tucker unto the within named John Bevill according to the tenor form and effect of the within written deed.

At a Court held for Mecklenburg County the 13th day of March 1780

This Indenture and the memorandum endorsed were acknowledged by Garner Tucker a party thereto and ordered to be recorded and Anne Tucker wife of the said Garner personally appeared in Court and being privily examined voluntarily relinquished her right of dower in the estate conveyed by the said Indenture.
