LARGEN -
Is anyone working on determining the parentage of William LARGEN (177?-1832)? Contrary to oral history which says that his father was from Sweden, we believe that he was of French descent. The Largen history seems to stop with him and we would like to carry it back further. Help! Bill and Mary Largen Fox, Williamsburg, VA.

Looking for any information on a Samuel CRAWFORD whose daughter, Elizabeth, born in Wythe Co. Va in 1828, married Thomas MILLER, born 6-6-1820, Carroll Co. Va on 11-16-1843 in Pulaski Co. Va. I have run into a dead end as to who Elizabeth's mother was and where Samuel CRAWFORD was born and where he died. Samuel CRAWFORD was my great, great, great grandfather. Any information will be appreciated.

I am seeking information on Newell McHONE, born about 1800 in Stokes Co., NC and resided in the mid 1850's in Carroll Co., Va. He was married first to Mary Ann BEASLEY in Stokes Co., NC. I am researching the family of William WHITE, b. 1792 in NC and resided in Carroll Co., VA in the mid 1800's. His first wife was Hannah COLTRANE, daughter of David COLTRANE and Hannah THORNBURGH COLTRANE. The second wife was Nancy COLTRANE. I am looking for BALDWINs and DALTONs and my line of DALTONs includes Isaac DALTON born 19 Feb, 1856 in Lee Co., VA. He was married to Rebecca E. BALDWIN, born Nov. 1853 somewhere in VA. She married Isaac DALTON in 1876. I do not know who Rebecca E. BALDWIN's parents were and all I know is that she had a brother named John C. BALDWIN. Isaac DALTON's parents were Thomas DALTON and Catherine COLLINSWORTH. They were married 20 Sept. 1851 in Carroll Co. Va. Catherine COLLINSWORTH's parents were Thomas COLLINSWORTH and Esther Ann BLUBAUGH married 17 July 1832 in Lee Co., Va. I don't know who their parents were. Thomas DALTON's parents were Thomas DALTON and Mary or Polly JENNINGS. They were married 29 May, 1833 in Carroll Co., Va. Who were their parents? Also after reading about the Melungeons, I found out that DALTON and COLLINSWORTH are possible Melungeon surnames.

Researching John STEELE, born ca1815, married 1840 in Grayson Co., VA to Nancy STONE, born ca1824, daughter of William and Rebecca STONE. John and Nancy resided on the old Lorenzo Dow BLAIR farm not far from Galax. They appeared on the 1850 through 1880 Carroll Co., VA censuses, and then disappear from all court (county, state, & federal) records. I would love to find mention of this family in an old ledger, diary, Bible record. Answers may be found in the records of someone linked directly to Lorenzo Dow BLAIR.

Need help with Mary ESKUE b. ca 1812 d. 7 Oct 1898 Carroll Co. Va. married 1. 29 March 1831 Montgomery Co. Va. Jonathan NESTER, she married 2nd. 30 March 1841 Grayson Co. Va. Elijah LARGEN. She had children by both marriages. Who is her parents, siblings? A copy of her marriages does not list parents names.
