In the World War 1917-1918-1919, Buffalo County, Nebraska

1. Private Peter A. Corr, Son of Mrs. Catherine Moran, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service at Kansas City, Mo., Nov. 27, 1918, and trained at Paris Island, S. C., for duty in 474th Bat. G, U. S. Marines. Discharged April 2, 1919.

2. Augustus Frank, Son of Mrs. Pauline Frank, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service in January, 1918, and trained at Paris, Island, S. C., for duty in the U. S. Marines. Nine months on the U. S. S. Pennsylvania. Furloughed in March, 1919, and subject to recall.

3. Private G. E. Haase, Jr. , Son of Gilbert E. Haase, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service May 20, 1918, and trained at Paris, Island, S. C., for duty in the 58th Co., U. S. Marines, later quartered at Norfolk Navy Yards. Discharged Feb. 26, 1919.

4. Karl A. M. Green, Son of Mrs. F. M. Green, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service May 4, 1918, and was trained for duty in the U. S. Marines. Reached France September 21, 1918, and saw service in that country until the early part of 1919.

5. Clifford E. Edwards, Expert Rifleman, Son of E. R. Edwards, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service February 7, 1918, and trained at Paris, Island, for duty with U. S. Marines; transferred to Quantico, and kept as a coach. Still in reserve and subject to recall.

6. Private Truman W. Swinyer, Son of C. L. Swinyer, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service at Omaha, Neb., in April, 1917, and was trained at Great Lakes, Ill., for duty in the navy. Saw service on a submarine chaser, later being placed on the "Helena" patrol boat.

7. Ray Norris McCann, Son of Mrs. Ida McCann, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service at Omaha, Neb., January 23, 1918, and trained at Camp Perry, Great Lakes and Hampton Roads School for duty in Co. I, 7th Reg., as a radio operator. Discharged December 21, 1918.

8. Corporal Harvey L. Porter, Son of Horace Porter, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service May 15, 1917, and trained at Paris, Island, S. C., for duty in Co. 75, 6th Reg. U. S. Marine Corp. 2d Division. Saw service at Belleau Wood, Soissons, St. Mihiel and was wounded here. Rejoined his company Oct. 9, and took part in Meuse-Argonne offensive Nov. 1. Decorated for service at Belleau Wood.

Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., Sept, 19, 1917, and was trained at Camp Funston and Camp Cody, for duty with Co. H, 134th Infantry, 34 Division, later transferring to Co. F, 125th Infantry, 32d Division. Saw service at Marne, Juvigny, Soissons and Verdun. Wounded. Discharged May 21, 1919.
2. Private Clyde Gross,    Son of Mrs. Laura Gross, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., May 27, 1918, and trained at Camp Dodge, for duty with Battery E, 338th Infantry, 88th Division. In reserve for five months in France. Discharged January 17, 1919.
3. Private Harry L. Smith,    Son of George D. Smith, Palmyria, Ill.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., Oct. 4, 1917, and was trained at Camp Funston, for duty with Hdq. Co., 89th Division. Saw service at St. Mihiel and Argonne-Meuse sectors, also Army of Occupation. Discharged June 2, 1919.
4. Corporal Lester Pitke,    Son of Frank Pitke, Gibbon, Neb.
Entered service at Kearney, Neb., trained at Camp Dodge, Camp Mills, at Rimacourt, France, for duty in Co. B, 3d Inf., 42d, (Rainbow) Division. In defensive in Baccarat sector; Campagne sector, or 3d battle of Somme; offensive at Chateau-Thierry, received 5 machine gun bullets and 4 fragmenst [sic] of high explosive shell, July 26, 1918. Was in six French and three American hospitals. Discharged at Camp Dodge, January 23, 1919. On Mexican border in 1916-1917.
5. Private Francis J. DeMuth,    Son of Mrs. Anna DeMuth, Elmcreek, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., Oct. 3, 1917, and was trained at Camp Funston, for duty with Hdq. Co., 137th Infantry, 35th~Division. Occupied front lines at Mittlach and Camp Nicholas, later in reserve during St. Mihiel drive; in Argonne-Meuse offensive Sept. 26, to Oct. 10. Discharged from service May 5, 1919.
6. Private Carl L. Chapman,    Son of B. O. Chapman, Gibbon, Neb.
Entered service at Kearney, Neb., May 27, 1918, and was trained at Camp Dodge, Ia., and De Souge, France, for duty with Hdq. Co., 88th Division. Discharged January 16, 1919.
7. Sergeant John P. Godberson,    Son of Mrs. C. Godberson, Madison, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., May 4, 1918, trained at Ft. Riley, and Chicago, Ill., for duty in M. O. T. C., Medical Corps. Discharged June 17, 1919.
8. Private Harvey F. Bluss,    Son of F. H. Bluss, Ravenna, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., May 2, 1918, and was trained at Camp Fremont, for duty in Co. E, 8th Division. The 8th Division was awaiting transports at time armistice was signed. Discharged February 12, 1919.

1. Private Thomas F. Shannon,    Son of Mrs. Margaret Shannon, Elmcreek, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., Sept. 19, 1917, and trained at Camp Funston and Camp Cody, for duty with Co. N, 128th Inf., 32d Division. In fighting at Javigne, Romaige, Marne Woods, Brahebille, St. Laverent and Meuse~Argonne. Discharged April 11, 1919. Farming near Elmcreek, Neb.
2. Private Leslie McElhinny,    Son of R. T. McElhinny, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., Sept. 4, 1918, and trained at Camp Grant, Camp McArthur, and Camp Funston, for duty with Co. 2, 2nd Battalion, 161st Depot Brigade. Received his discharge December 19, 1918. Is farming near Kearney, Nebraska.
3. Casper Gabriel. ,    Son of Gabriel Saleeba, Syria
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., August 29, 1918, and trained at Camp Funston, for duty with the Quarter Master Service. Received his discharge April 9, 1919.
4. Private Nell E. Hyatt,    Son of McClellan Hyatt, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., August 15, 1918, and trained at Lincoln, Neb., and Camp Perdue, for duty in Co. E, (Radio), Signal Corps. Received his discharge papers December 15, 1918.
5. Second Lieutenant Ivan N. Emley,    Kearney, Nebraska.
Entered the service at Omaha, Neb., December 8, 1917, and trained at Cambridge, Massachusetts, for duty in the Air Service. Received his discharge December 11, 1918. Resides at Kearney, Nebraska.
6. David Lewis,    Son of Thomas Lewis, Gibbon, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., May 2, 1918, and was trained at Camp Fremont, California, for duty in Co. D, Ammunition Train, 8th Division. Received his discharge papers February 12, 1919, at Camp Dodge, Ia.
7. Private James L. Kinney,    Son of Edward Kinney, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service at Denver, Colo., July 4, 1918, and was trained at Camp Humphrey, Va., for duty in the 1st Engineers. Crossed to France in October, 1918, and served with the Army of Occupation, stationed at Coblenz, Germany.

Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., March 4, 1918, and trained at Camp Funston. Received his discharge papers March 22, 1918.
3. Private William C. Bales,    Son of W. S. Bales, Ravenna, Neb.
Entered the service at Alliance, Neb., April 30, 1917, and trained for duty with Battery B, 121st F. A., 32d Division. Saw service at the Battle of Marne, Soissons, and Argonne Forest. Discharged May 19, 1919. Resides at Ravenna.
4. Private Charles Thompson,    Son of Mrs. L. Thompson, Ravenna, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., Oct. 3, 1917, and was trained at Camp Funston, for duty with Hdq. Co., 355th Infantry, 89th Division. Saw service at Lucey, St. Mihiel, and in the Meuse-Argonne. Discharged June 2, 1919.
5. Private Edward Langer,    Son of Edward Langer, Pleasanton, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., May 27, 1918, and was trained at Camp Dodge, for duty with Battery D, 388th Infantry, 88th Division. Saw service in England and later in France. Discharged January 17, 1919.
6. Private Elton E. Lowell,    Son of Oscar E. Lowell, Gibbon, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., October 3, 1917, and trained at Camp Funston, for duty in Hdq. Co., 138th Inf., 35th Division. Saw service at St. Mihiel, and Argonne-Meuse campaigns. Discharged May 12, 1919.

Entered the service at Omaha, Neb., May 11, 1918, anad [sic] was trained at Camp Cody, for duty with the Quartermaster Corps, 34th Division. Discharged February 2, 1919.
8. Private Ray Davis,    Grand Island, Nebraska.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., May 27, 1918, and trained for duty in the U. S. Infantry, and serving nearly ten months in foreign lands. Resides at Grand Island, Neb.

2. Lieutenant Bert Wood,    Son of O. W. Wood, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., June 24, 1918, and was trained at Camp Funston, for duty with Co. C, 105th F. S., 30th Div. Saw service at Buzancy, Vaux Andigney, Escaufort, St. Quentin, and Ribeaucourt offensives; later in Army of Occupation. Discharged April 21, 1919.
3. Corporal George Jochem,    Son of Mrs. Henrietta Jochem, Poole, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., Oct. 3, 1917, and was trained at Camp Funston, for duty with Hdq. Co., 355th Inf., 89th Division. Saw service at St. Mihiel, and through the Argonne Forest drive. On the firing line 99 days. Discharged June 2, 1919.
4. Second Lieutenant Wm. T. Eckerson,    Ravenna, Nebraska.
Entered the service at Des Moines, Ia., May 23, 1918, and trained at Camp Dodge, for duty in Co. A, 87 Infantry. Practiced law for two years at Ravenna, previous to joining the army.
5. Private Glenn C. Littlefield,    Son of Clarence E. Littlefield, Casper, Wyo.
Entered the service at Casper, Wyo., Sept. 20, 1917, and trained at Camp Lewis, for duty with 57th F. A., 32d Div. Saw service at Soissons, Cbateau-Thierry, Meuse-Argonne. In front line from July 3, to Nov. 9, 1918. Discharged on May 20, 1919. Resides at Casper, Wyo.
6. Private Joseph Cherry,    Son of George Cherry, Sartoria, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., March 4, 1918, and trained at Ft. Riley. Discharged March 11, 1918, on account of physical disability.
7. Rudolph J. Jelinek, Musician,    Son of Joseph Jelinek, Ravenna, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., Oct. 3, 1917, and was trained at Camp Funston, for duty in 355th Inf. Band, of 89th Division. Saw service at St. Mihiel, and Meuse-Argonne offensives; later in Army of Occupation. Discharged 6, 2, '19.
8. Second Lieutenant Everett L. Randall,    Son of J. B. Randall, Gibbon, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., May 27, 1918 and trained at Camp Dodge, Camp Zachary Taylor, Camp Jackson and Fort Sill, for duty in Hdq. Co., 88th Division. Discharged December 21, 1918.
