In the World War 1917-1918-1919, Buffalo County, Nebraska

1. Private Oscar Lerche, Kearney, Nebraska.
Entered the service somewhere in Illinois, May 3, 1917, and was trained at Camp Dodge, for duty in Co. D, 357th Infantry, 90th Division. Saw service in France, wounded six times by shrapnel. In hospital at Camp Dodge, Ia.

2. Private Elton Lavern Kithcart, Son of M. J. Kithcart, Shelton, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., April 29, 1918, and trained at Camp Funston, for duty in Co. M., 355th Infantry, 89th Division, seeing service in France and Germany with his division and returning for demobilization.

3. George W. Miller, Cook, Son of Mrs. Ellen Miller, Gibbon, Neb.
Entered the service at Grand Island, Neb., May 6, 1917, and trained at Ft. McArthur, Calif., for duty in Battery D, 19th Regiment of Artillery. Did not see service in France. Discharged December 19, 1918.

4. Arthur E. Lammers, Son of Weert Lammers, Pleasanton, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., Sept. 4, 1918, and trained at Fort Riley and Fort Douglas, for duty in the Medical Corps. Still in service in early summer of 1919.

5. Private Charlie A. Chabal, Gibbon, Nebraska.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., July 21, 1918, and trained at Fort Dodge and Camp Lee, Va., for duty in the Corps Mobile, Veterinary Hospital.

6. Private Floyd B. Albro, Son of Ben Albro, Sweetwater, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., August 13, 1918, and trained at Logan, Utah and A. A. Humphrey, Va:, for duty with Co. A, 3d Reg. Engineers.

7. Sergeant Portice J. Cline, Son of Mrs. Emma Cline, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., July 22, 1918, and was trained at Camp Dodge and Camp Alexandria, Va., for duty with Co. 316, Labor Battalion. Saw nine months service in France, returning to his home in the early summer of 1919.

8. Private William R. Lord, Kearney, Nebraska.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., and was trained at Camp Dodge, Ia., for duty with Co. I, 350th Infantry, 88th Division, sailing with his division to France. Unable to obtain further information.

1. Private Arthur M. Shultz,    Son of Mrs. Kitty J. Shultz, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service at Grand Island, Neb., in December, 1917, and trained at Fort Logan, Colo., and Fort Sill, Oklahoma, for service in the U. S. Army. Further information unobtainable.
2. Private Charles Roy Mansir,    Son of Mrs. J. E. Mansir, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., March 26, 1917, and trained at Camp Ashland, Camp Cody, and Fort Sill, for duty in the 127th F.A. Sailed for France in October, 1918.
3. Lieutenant-Colonel Charles N. Sawyer,    Son of C. H. Sawyer, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the regular U. S. Army through West Point Academy, in March 1908, and trained at West Point for duty in the Signal Corps. Sailed for France in August, 1918, and saw service in St. Mihiel, Troyon Sector and Verdun Area, remaining on west front until armistice was signed.
4. Sergeant Ray C. Lewis,    Son of Levi W. Lewis, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., Sept. 19, 1917, and was trained at Camp Funston and Camp Cody, for duty with Auxiliary Remount, Depot 326, remaining at Camp Cody all through the war period.
5. Cleon B. Skillman, Radio Electrician,    Pleasanton, Nebraska.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., Aug. 15, 1918, and was trained at the State University of Nebraska, with the Radio Training Detachment, completing his course. Discharged December 10, 1919. Resides at Lexington, Nebraska.
6. Captain Henry A. Knutzen,    Son of Walter Knutzen, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service at Minneapolis, Minn., Aug. 27, 1917, and trained at Camps Ft. Snelling, Grant, Bowie, Taylor and Ft. Sill, for duty with 333d F. A. C. O. T. S. Received his discharge from Ft. Sill, Okla., January 31, 1919.
7. Lieutenant Ned J. Sanberg,    Son of Chas. G. Sandberg, Clear Lake, Wis.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., June 26, 1914, on the Mexican Border in 16-17, later training at Camp Cody, and Camp McArthur for udty [sic] in Infantry Replacement and Training Camps. Received his discharge January 14. 1919.
8. Private Earl F. Brooks,    Son of A. C. Brooks, Poole, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., August 14, 1918, and trained at Rahe Auto School, at Kansas City, Mo., for duty with Bat. B, 58th Reg. F. A., and received his dishcarge [sic] at Camp Funston, February 3, 1919.

Entered the service at Chicago, Ill., in spring of 1918, and trained at Rawleigh, S. C., for duty in the Tank Corps. Discharged in February, 1919.
2. Private Charles C. Davis,    Son of Mrs. Barbara Wood, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., Oct. 3, 1917, and was trained at Camp Funston, for duty with Co. F, 16th Engineers. Saw service in France in the Argonne Forest fighting and at Verdun.
3. Private Earl A. Graves,    Brother of W. H. Hardy, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., March 4, 1918, and trained at Ft. Riley, and Camp Wadsworth, for duty with Ambulance Co. No. 40, 6th Division. Was in active service on the western front for 72 days.
4. Private Ralph D. Kennedy,    Son of Mrs. Stella Kennedy, Minden, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., Sept. 8, 1918, and trained at Ft. Crook and Camp Funston, for duty in the Signal Corps of the Machine Gun Department. Discharged on December 20, 1918.
5. Private Reuben W. Berg,    Son of Mrs. G. W. Berg, Pleasanton, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., October 3, 1917, and trained at Camp Funston and Governor's Island, for duty in Hdq. Co., 355th Infantry, 89th Division. Received his discharge March 7, 1919. Farming near Pleasanton, Nebraska.
6. C. P. Buckingham,    Son of J. O. Buckingham, Amherst, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., October 15, 1918, and trained at the State Uni., S. A. T. C., Lincoln, Nebraska. Remained in training until December 12, 1918.
7. Corporal James G. Gentleman,    Son of N. J. Gentleman, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., July 21, 1918, and trained at Camp Dodge and Camp Taylor, for duty in 46th Training Battalion, F. A. C. O. T. S. Discharged December 3, 1919. Resides at Kearney, Nebraska.
8. Private Ben Clinton Gitchel,    Son of Benjamin S. Gitchel, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., October 17, 1918, and was trained at the Kearney State Normal School, S. A. T. C. Remained in training until after the armistice was signed, receiving his discharge papers December 10, 1918.

Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., Sept. 5, 1917, and trained at Camp Funston, for duty with Co. F, 355th Infantry, 89th Division. Saw service with his division in France and received his discharge June 3, 1919.
2. Lieutenant Richard Allen Russell,    Soil of Lucius M. Russell, Portland, Ore.
Entered the service at Fort Snelling, Minn., August 27, 1917, and was trained at the above place and at Camp Dodge, for duty with 9th Co., 350th Infantry, 88th Division. Saw fighting on the Alsace sector and Meuse-Argonne sector. Discharged June 23, 1919. Resides at Broken Bow, Neb.
3. Sergeant Wallace Mingus,    Son of O. P. Mingus, Ravenna, Neb.
Entered the service at Lincoln, Neb., August 1, 1917, and 134th Infantry, 34th Division. Later transferred to the 83d Division. Discharged February 12, 1919. Resides at Cairo, Neb.
4. Private Wm. C. Hudson,    Son of J. N. Hudson, Morrill, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., May 27, 1918, and was trained at Camp Dodge, for duty with Battery A, 338th Infantry, 88th Division. Was on military police duty in France. Over seas for 11 months. Discharged July 23, 1919.
5. Private Adolph H. Nau,    Son of Louis Nau, Riverdale, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., August 14, 1918, and trained at Logan, Utah, Presidio, Calif., and San Pedro, Calif., for duty with Co. A, 2nd Artillery Park. Discharged December 15, 1918. Auto mechanic, Riverdale, Neb.
6. Private Ona Lee Dowler,    Son of P. R. Dowler, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service at Camp Dodge, May 28, 1918, and was trained at Camp Dodge, Camp Upton, and later at De Souge, France. Served with the 338th Field Artillery, 88th Division. Discharged January 16, 1919.
7. Sergeant Clifford R. Lutes,    Son of Mrs. Nettie B. Lutes, Shelton, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb;, July 21, 1918, and trained at Camp Dodge, for duty with Hdq. Co., 338th F. A., Band, 88th Division. Discharged in January, 1919. Resides Denver, Colorado.
8. Private Cyril W. Darbyshire,    Son of Mrs. Flora Darbyshire, Scottsbluff, Neb.
Entered the service at Kansas City, Mo., in April, 1918, and trained at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, for duty with the 63d Engineers, 71st Transport Corps, 23d Grand Division. Discharged at Camp Dodge, June 26, 1919.

Entered the service at Kearney, Neb, October 14, 1918, and trained at S. A. T. C. special training corps, State Farm Lincoln, Neb., for service as a mechanic. Remained in training until after armistice was signed. Discharged Dec. 12, 19.
2. Private Robert Lee Came,    Son of Robert T. Came, Salina, Kansas
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., May 27, 1918, and was trained at Camp Dodge, and Camp De Souge, France, for duty with the 338th Field Artillery, 88th Division. Received his discharge January 17, 1919.
3. Private Fay A. Farrar,    Son of W. H. Farrar, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service at Grand Island, Neb., April 12, 1919, and trained at Fort Logan, and San Francisco; later sailing for Honolulu, for duty with the coast artillery in regular army.
4. Private Floyd Swinyer,    Son of C. L. Swinyer, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service at Grand Island, Neb., and trained at Fort Logan, for duty in the Coast Artillery, 5th Co. Now in California expecting to go to the Philippine Islands.
5. Corporal John C. Collis,    Gibbon, Nebraska.
Entered the service at Chicago, Ill., in October, 1917, and was trained at Camp Grant, and Camp Upton, for duty in the Light Trench Battery, 129th Infantry, 33d Division. Saw service at Battle of Somme, Hill 304, Marchville, St. Hilaire, Meuse, Argonne, Dannevoux, Gercourt Bois de Chemme and Bols de Plat Chine. Wounded at Villers Brettonneaux, in the hospital one month.
6. Farrier, William L. Muehler,    Son of Fred Muehler, Amherst, Neb.
Entered the service at Kearney, Neb., July 21, 1918, and was trained at Camp Dodge, Camp Lee, and Camp Merritt, for duty in Veterinary Unit, 5th Replacement Unit, 8th Division. Three days out on the Atlantic when orders were received to turn back for demobilization. Discharged January 21, 1919.
7. Private Jesse R. Donaldson,    Son of M. H. Donaldson Gibbon, Neb.
Entered the service at Sheridan, Ia., in May, 1918, and was trained at Camp McArthur, Tex., and trained for duty with Co. A, 56th Infantry. Saw service at the front and in the Army of Occupation.
8. Private Leslie C. Valentine,    Son of Mrs. L. C. Valentine, Kearney, Neb.
Entered the service at Council Bluffs, Ia., in May, 1918, and trained at Camp McArthur, Tex., for duty with Co. L, 64th Infantry, 7th Division. Saw service in France with A. E. F.
