Homer Brinkley

Everglades Barber Has
Unique Clientele
1928
Homer Brinkley ( Barber ) came
to the Everglades from Moultrie Georgia in 1925 and established
a small one chair Barber Shop in a one room building which stood
on the dock near the foot of Broadway. The walls of this First
shop were lined with shotguns and fishing tackle. Very few barbers are called upon to practice their art amid such surroundings and among so many different types, long haired and long skirted Seminoles are sandwiched between captalists and short haired flappers, here in the tropical loveliness of Collier County, he is am artist who stands alone in his profession. Today in the old Administration Building Mr. Brinkley has a modern 3 chair shop and dispenses a service of his craft throughout South Florida. |
