Northumberland County VA Ancestry

Named for a local Indian tribe, Chicacoan Cottage in Heathsville, Virginia was built in the early 1800s as the sister house to the Academy. Built about fifty yards apart, both Chicacoan Cottage and the Academy are identical except for the three dormers that were added to the Academy in 1929. Both are said to be the former gatehouses to William Harding's Springfield property.
