EANES, Peter Cline Peter Cline Eanes, 82, of Salem, passed away Friday, October 31, 2003. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for over 50 years and retired after 38 years of service from the Norfolk & Western Railroad. He was active in the Boy Scouts, was a very loving and family-oriented man and was a talented handyman, gardener, and artist with wood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles R. and Bess Honaker Eanes; and brothers, Charles and Howard Eanes. Surviving are his beloved wife of 57 years, Agnes Akers Eanes; children, Charlotte and Clarence Smith, Carl and Eloise Eanes, Glenn and Robin Eanes; grandchildren, Cherie Crews, Christopher Smith, Stacy Purl, Melisa Hilton, Thomas Eanes, Amber Eanes; three step grandsons, Randy Miller, Sammy Miller, and Ted Miller; great-grandchildren, Branden Purl, Thomas Purl, Jason Purl, Megan Miller, William Smith; niece, Cheryl Smith. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2003, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gary Rhinesmith officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Eanes Family Cemetery, Check. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are being handled by Lotz Funeral Home, Salem.

Agnes Akers Eanes, 82, of Salem, passed away Monday, January 29, 2007. She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church for over 50 years. She had worked for General Electric Company for 20 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Cline Eanes of 57 years. Survivors include three children, Charlotte Smith and husband Clarence, Carl Raymond Eanes and wife Eloise, Glenn Edward Eanes and wife Robin; grandchildren, Christopher Smith and Cherie Crews, Stacy Purl, Melisa Eanes, Thomas and Amber Eanes; and eight great grandsons and one great granddaughter; three step grandsons; two sisters, Mae Burcham and Necie Burnett; one brother, Bill Akers. Visitation will be held at Lotz Salem Chapel from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2007. Funeral service will be held at the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul on Thursday, February 1, 2007 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Philip Bottomley officiating. Interment will follow in the Eanes Family Cemetery in Check, Va. with a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, send donations to the American Cancer Society.
