ALTIZER, Archie Madison, 79, of Snowville, passed away Saturday, December 20, 1997 in Richfield Nursing Home. He was a member of Laurel Hill Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and was a retired employee of Clover Creamery with 40 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Nobie Phillips Altizer; daughter and her husband, Carolyn and Gray Hines of Snowville; son and his wife, Doug and Jean Altizer of Radford; brother, Frank Taylor Altizer Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Mrs. Edith A Williams of Newark, Del.; five grandchildren, Laura Kozar, Woody Altizer, Thomas Weeks II, Amy Bishop, Jennifer Bower; six great-grandchildren, Mindi Kozar, Malorie Bower, Chase Altizer, Rachel Bishop, Levi Bower, and Grayce Bishop. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, 1997 at the Seaver-Sanders & Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Lowell Altizer officiating. Interment will follow in the Altizer Family Cemetery at Snowville. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Seaver-Sanders & Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Madison Altizer; her mother, Nancy Julienne Phillips; her father, Walter Phillips; her stepmother, Nolie Phillips; her sister, Recie Phillips; her brothers, Basil, Fred, Price, Cline and Stant Phillips; and her half-brothers, Roy and Melvin Phillips. Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Carolyn and Gray Hines of Snowville; a son and his wife, Douglas A. and Jean Altizer of Radford; two sisters, Dorothy Helen Pelkey of Snowville, and Frances Edna Ford of Radford; five grandchildren, Laura Kozar, Woody Altizer, Thomas Weeks II, Amy Horne and Jennifer Devore; and nine great-grandchildren, Mindi Kozar, Malorie Bower, Chase Altizer, Rachel Bishop, Levi Bower, Grayce Bishop, Mason Hines, Quinn Horne, Cara Altizer, and soon to be born, Baby Horne. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 17, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Mr. C.E. Mannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Altizer Family Cemetery in Snowville. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.

Polly Wade Bishop, 70, of Christiansburg, died Thursday, December 15, 2005 in Carilion New River Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bonnie Bishop. Surviving are three sons, Billy W. Bishop and Kenneth D. Bishop, both of Christiansburg and James M. Bishop, Radford; also; two sisters, Tabby Swain, Sale, and Betty Turman Willis. Four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2005 at the DeVilbiss Funeral Chapel with Pastor Rick Bolick officiating. Interment will follow in the Bishop Family Cemetery, Pulaski County. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2005 at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home, Radford.

BISHOP, Ralph Vernon, 76, of Dublin, passed away Thursday, June 11, 1998, at the Veterans Facility in Salem. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. Survivors include two sons, Thomas Vernon Bishop of Christiansburg, and Joey Bradley of Pittsburgh, Pa.; one daughter, Nancy Howard of Pittsburgh, Pa., two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Shustack of Walden, N.Y., and Mrs. Susan R. Kraft of Christiansburg; six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Sunday, June 14, 1998, at 2 p.m. at the Altizer Cemetery in Snowville with Pastor Donald Leonard Jr. officiating.
