away Saturday, July 12, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife Beulah
Slusher Sowers. He is survived by: daughter, Kathryn S. Stewart,
Hendersonville, TN; grandsons, Christopher Stewart, of Goodyear, AZ, Timothy
Stewart, of Apopka, FL; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ilene
Boucher, of Belleville, IL, Frances Profitt, of
Floyd; brother, Edmond Sowers, of MO; and special friend, Eva Sutphin, of
Christiansburg. Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday,
July 15, at The Christiansburg Church of the Brethren with Rev. Donald Peters
and Rev. Wallace Yopp officiating. Interment followed in Jacksonville Cemetery, Floyd.

Thursday July 29, 2010, at the Missouri Veteran's Home, Mt. Vernon, Mo. He was born Feb. 5, 1917, in Floyd, Va., the son of
Noah Waitman Sowers and Ida Frances (Naff) Sowers. His parents, two sisters,
Ilene Boucher, Anna Lee Ratliff, and two brothers, James Sowers and Maston
Sowers preceded him in death. He was a graduate of the Floyd High School, Floyd,
Va., and a veteran of the United States Navy having served during WWII. Edmon is survived by his wife Edna M. Sowers; two
sons, Dennis Waitman Sowers and Brian Sowers both of Carthage, Mo.; a
daughter, Brenda Wahl and her husband, Walter, Hingham, Mass.; and one
sister, Frances Profitt, Floyd, Va. He was the Postmaster for the United States Postal
Service in Thiells, N.Y., retiring after many years of faithful service. He
was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church, Carthage, Mo., and the
Methodist Men (Thiells, N.Y.). A visitation will be held Monday, Aug. 2, 2010,
from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Knell Mortuary. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, at
9 a.m. at the Crossroads Baptist Church, Carthage, Mo. Pastor Bob Morgan will
officiate. Interment will be in the Park Cemetery, Carthage, Mo. Memorial contributions are suggested to the

Bedford Sowers: Edna Marjorie Sowers, 88, Carthage, MO, passed away
Friday, November 2, 2012 at the Galena Nursing Center, Galena, KS, following
an extended illness. Edna was born September 24, 1924 at Thiells, NY to
the late Claude and Nettie (Champeau) Bedford. She married Edmon Sowers at Thiells, NY on June 9,
1947. Three children were born to this union. Her beloved Edmon preceded her
in death on July 29, 2010. Edna was retired from the United States Postal
Service where she worked as a postal clerk for many years. She greatly
enjoyed being outdoors, especially when gardening and bird watching. She was
an accomplished painter and she was an avid reader.
Edna was converted and baptized at a young age and retained her membership in
the Thiells United Methodist Church. She is survived by her children, Dennis
Sowers and Brian Sowers, both of Carthage, MO, and Brenda Wahl and her
husband, Walter, Tampa FL; other relatives and friends. Visitation will be
Tuesday, November 6, 2012 from 8 – 8:45 a.m. at Knell Mortuary. Funeral
services will be 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012 graveside. Burial will
be in Park Cemetery under direction of Knell Mortuary, Carthage, MO. |

November 8, 1925 and was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus
Christ and to be reunited with her husband of 68 years, James, on Thursday,
November 2, 2017. She passed away after complications from a stroke while
surrounded by her loved ones. Frances was employed in the garment industry for
over 20 years, retiring in 1987. She lived a full life being a farmer’s wife,
milking cows, working in the fields, hauling rock off of crop land, driving
trucks and tractors while doing multiple chores. Frances had a “green thumb” and could grow just
about anything in her huge garden that she planted, tended and harvested each
year. She spent much of her time canning and freezing many bushels of
vegetables and always having extra vegetable to share with family, church
family and friends. Frances was one of the best cooks ever and always taking
great pleasure in seeing people enjoy the food that she had prepared. She was preceded by her Dad and Mom, Noah Waitman
and Ida Naff Sowers; 3 brothers; 2 sisters. She is survived by her three daughters and
sons-in-law, Gwendalyn Klann (Gary), Betty Hicks (David), Sharon Lovell
(Ray); six grandchildren, Derick Hicks (Tonya, Jeffery Hicks (Crystal),
Jennifer Kilgore (Daniel), Eric Klann, Kristen Carver (Scott), Brandon Lovell
(Michelle); six great-grandchildren, Serefin Daniel Kilgore, Elijah Allen
Hicks, Knoxleigh Elizabeth Carver, Maximus Cross Carver, McKenzie Grace
Lovell, Trevor Allen Lovell. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday,
November 5, 2017 at Red Oak Grove Church of the Brethren with Pastor Hebron
Quesenberry and Pastor Marvin Wade officiating with interment in the Restvale
Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday,
November 4, 2017 at Maberry Funeral Home. Thanks to Frances’ church (Red Oak Grove Church of
the Brethren) for all the fellowship and spiritual support. Frances was a
member since the age of 13 serving in many rolls. Frances and James were
Deacons form many years and also served as youth leader for a while as well
as a longtime member of the Women’s Fellowship. Frances was loved by everyone she met. The family
would like to thank everyone at Good Samaritan Hospice for the care you gave
Frances. The family would like to thank all the nurses and Nursing Assistant’s
at Skyline Nursing and Rehab for all the loving care you gave our mother
