In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Dillon Howell; son, Donald Gene Howell; granddaughters, Misty Lusk and Victoria Stirwalt; one sister, Shirley Whited; and four brothers, Walter, Franklin, Simon and Ray. Survivors include four sons, Ray Howell and wife, Barbara of Abb's Valley, Va.; Robert Howell and wife, Doris of Abb's Valley, Va.; Harold Howell of Claytor Lake, Va.; Tommy Howell and wife, Drema of Montcalm, W.Va.; three daughters, Janet Shupe and husband, Barnes (Duck) of Abb's Valley, Va., Karen Davis and husband, Phillip of Abb's Valley, Va., Juanita Dickens and husband, Randy of Franklinton, N.C.; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Hazelwood; he is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons, Rodney and Robert Booth. He is survived by his wife, Jannett Booth; son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Eddie and Sandra Booth of Elliston; daughter and son-in-law, Maggie Lee and Dino DeGallio of Reston; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and a brother, Fayette Booth of Christiansburg. Sadly, she succumbed to Alzheimer's/Dementia. She was born in West Virginia on July 26, 1927. She was preceded in death by her second husband, John David Conner Jr., formerly of Buena Vista (Rockbridge Co, VA(. Sue was also predeceased by most of her children from a prior marriage. In fact, she may be the last of her immediate family. She is survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a stepdaughter, Ingrid Ann (Conner) Vance and family; Lora Conner, Buena Vista, and family; Marshall Conner, Roseville, Calif., and family; granddaughters, Nicole Vance, Victoria Vance, and Dawn Vance. There will be no memorial services, per her request. Sue donated her remains to science at West Virginia University. In memory of Sue, memorial contributions can be made to your favorite nonprofit organization. A special "thank you" should be given to the Dawnview Center at Fort Ashby, W.Va. Born February 16, 1930 in Princeton, WV, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Q. and Agnes Blevins Howell. Pansy was a long-time, loyal, and devoted member of the Community Baptist Church and had been a resident of Bluefield, VA for 58 years. She held a B.S. degree in Biology from Concord College in 1952, was a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. She worked at St. Lukes Hospital for 26 years as a Lab Technician and Chief Lab Technician. In addition to her parents Pansy was preceded in death by; two brothers, Charles F. Howell and Arthur Q. Howell, Jr., a sister, Virginia Ruth Conley, one grandchild, and twin great-grandchildren: Thomas and Kathryn Adams. Survivors include; her husband of 63 years, Richard Thomas Branham of the home; two sons, Jeffrey Thomas Branham and wife Teresa of Bluefield, WV, Michael W. Branham and wife Lori A. of Lebanon, VA; three grandchildren Krista Branham and fiancι Justin Adams, Jeremy Branham and wife Heather, and Heath Branham and wife Elizabeth; and two great-grandchildren, Jasen and Aiden Branham. In keeping with her wishes there will be a graveside service for family and friends. TOANO - Jack L. Massie, 78, of James City County, went to be with the Lord, June 21, 2005, while at home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Massie lived the American Dream. In 1947, with the purchase of a bulldozer, he founded a grading company, Jack L. Massie Contractor, Inc., in Newport News. He relocated his business to James City County in 1964 and expanded it into a highway construction firm. In 1985, the company once again expanded to include utility construction and aggregate sales. Today there are more than 120 employees. Jack L. Massie Contractor, Inc. was the sole recipient of the 2000 Virginia Department of Transportation 'Quality Award' in recognition of quality construction on Route 199 and Monticello Avenue Extension. In 1958, Mr. and Mrs. Massie moved their family to a farm in Lightfoot. They operated VaJack Farm as a dairy and later raised and bred registered Polled Hereford beef cattle. They continued to live on the farm until selling it to Colonial Heritage in 2003. Mr. Massie was a founding board member of Old Colony Bank, Jamestown Academy and Williamsburg Landing. He was a past director of the Virginia Road and Transportation Builders Association. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice H. Massie; his father, Judson C. Massie; and his brother, Gordon C. Massie. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Virginia Maxfield Massie; his sister, Kristina Massie Swain; his daughter, Faith Willin and husband, R. C., of Seaford, Del.; his sons, Steve Massie and wife, Pam, and Gary Massie and wife, Linda, all of Williamsburg. Additional survivors include his seven grandchildren, Scott Massie and wife, Tracie, Mark Massie and wife, Michelle, Erin Massie Hogge and husband, Brad, Max Massie and Caitlin Massie, all of Williamsburg, Chad Willin and wife, Jen, and Maria Willin of Seaford, Del.; his two great-grandchildren, Carlie and Caleb Massie, also of Williamsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
