R. Estill Akers, age 85, of Cameron passed away Sat May 11, 2002 at the Sunset Home in Maysville. 

Estill was born Oct 3, 1916, in Lawson and lived in Clinton Co most of his life, moving to Cameron in 1993. On Apr 17, 1943, he was united in marriage to Irma Jean Sweatman in Lawson, she survives of the home. He was a member of the Lathrop Rotary Club, the Turney United Methodist Church and had worked as the Postmaster in Turney before retiring in 1986. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Georgia McQuerry Akers; son, R.E. Akers II, and brother, Lester Akers. 

Additional survivors include daughter, Echo Frame, Shawnee KS; sister, Virginia O'Dell, Lawson; granddaughter, Caitlin, Lawson.

Services were held Wed at the Lathrop United Methodist Church with burial in the Lathrop Cemetery. Bailey Funeral Home, Lathrop had charge of arrangements.

MRS. OLIVE AKERS
Mrs. Olive H. Akers, 74, of 1919 Fletcher St., was stricken at her home Saturday evening and died at St. John's Hospital at 8:45 p.m.
A resident here for 30 years, she was born Aug. 30, 1891, in Christiansburg, Va., to Leonard and Lura Daingerfield. Her husband, Ernest L. Akers, to whom she was wed in 1910 in Roanoke, Va., died in 1955. Mrs Akers attended Christ Lutheran Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ilene Michaels, of Polo, Mo.; two sons, Raymond E. Akers and Billy W. Akers of Anderson; two sisters, Mrs. Nell Epperly and Mrs. Elizabeth Hensley, both of Christiansburg, Va.; three brothers, Harry Daingerfield of Redford, Va., Ed Daingerfield of Harrisburg, Pa., and Tex Daingerfield of Va.; 14 grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren.
A son, Lynn Akers died here July 2. 
The body was taken to the Harold E. Rozelle Funeral Home where friends may call after 2 o'clock Monday afternoon.
Funeral rites will be conducted at the mortuary at 2 p.m., Tuesday by the Rev. Lester Ringham the Central Christian Church. Burial will take place in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Akers had been employed at Delco-Remy Division, Plant 4, Dept 413, for 24 years. 
He was born Jan 1, 1918 in Lathrop, Mo., to Ernest R. and Olive Daingerfield Akers and had been a resident of the Anderson area for 30 years.
He was a veteran of WWII and a member of the UAW-CIO. He married Ina A. Craig in Pendleton in 1947; she survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Olive Akers of Anderson; one daughter, Sharon Kay, one son, Gregory Lynn, both at home; a sister, Mrs. Ilene Michael of Polo, Mo., and two brothers, Raymond E. Akers and Billy W. Akers, both of Anderson.
Final Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at the Harold E. Rozelle Funeral Home. Rev. Monroe G. Schuster, pastor of the Central Christian Church, will be in charge of the service. Burial will be in the Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
