Diana Lynn Gibbens McAuley, 59, of Tampa, Florida died on October 4, 2012 in Tampa General Hospital. She was born January 1, 1953 to Trueworth Gibbens and Eunice I. Gibbens She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by: daughter, Rhonda McAuley McMahan (Joey); son, Robert McAuley (Alicia) of Tennessee; sister, Yvonne Gibbens Hammond; and brothers, Clyde T. Gibbens (JoCarol) of Sweeny, Texas and David R. Gibbens (Pat) of Midland, Texas; grandchildren, Travis McAuley, Madison and Cara McMahan of Tennessee; nieces, Wendy Hammond Tabone (Vince) of Lake Jackson, Texas and Amanda Gibbens of Houston; nephew, David T. Gibbens (Karen) of Bay City, Texas; numerous great nieces, nephews and cousins. Diana was born in Bay City, Texas and attended school in Van Vleck, Texas. Memorial service was October 20, 2012 in Temple Terrace United Methodist Church, Tampa, Florida with the Pastor St. Clair Moore officiating. Memorial service in Texas will be held during the Christmas holidays in Hawley Cemetery, Blessing Texas.

Barbara Nell McCulloch, 55, of Duluth, Minn., passed away Monday, October 29, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Finis Macdowell was born on March 19, 1935 in San Antonio, Texas to Arthol Kendrick and Geneva Russell Macdowell. On February 17, 1956, he married Bonnie Jean Crawford in Georgia. Mac served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a volunteer fireman in Bay City, Texas. He worked for various companies in the communications industry, such as Coastal States Gas Pipe Liners, TWR Communications, Grainger, and Clear Communications. He also served as Vice President of Construction at Clay Desta, Vice President of MCC Communications, as well as supervisor of construction at Valero Energy Corp. Finis Macdowell passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2012, in Houston, at the age of 77 years. He is survived by: his wife, Bonnie Macdowell; children, Arthur Kendrick Macdowell and his wife Irene, William Finis Macdowell and his wife Tami, Michael Terrance Macdowell and his wife Kjristi, and Christy Warren and her husband Jeff; grandchildren, Justin Macdowell, Kimber Filley and her husband George, Kyle Macdowell, Matalyn Macdowell, Kolt Macdowell, Kooper Kellis, Zachary Warren, and Reed Warren; as well as other loving family members and friends. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2012, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel, in Katy, with the Rev. Jeff Adams officiating. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bay City, a resident of Bay City since 1930, a member of Town and Country Garden Club, the State of Texas Beautification Committee, the Matagorda Co. Fair Association, an Associate member of the Cradle of Texas Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and a retired bookkeeper for the Wharton and Edna Livestock Sales with some 54 years of service. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, John Voss McCrosky, Sr. of Bay City; three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Hubert Johnson of Bay City, Patsy and Wayne Sells of West Columbia, and Elaine and David Hoffpauir of New Waverly, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, John Voss and Jeanette McCrosky, Jr. of Wadsworth; three sisters and two brothers-in-law Aunnie and Bert Head of Bay City, Robbie and Bill VanNess of Henderson, and Sarah Hayes of Bay City; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Garner Lloyd, Aubra Lloyd and Thestale Lloyd. Funeral services for Virginia Browning McCullough, 70, of Bay City will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home, with the Rev. W. E. Dugger, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Cedarvale Cemetery.
Mrs. McCullough was born May 5, 1916, in Pasadena, California to Julius Earl and Pauline Browning Aaron, and died at 7:20 PM April 29, 1987 at her residence.
A resident of Bay City since 1940, she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star where she served as Mother Advisor for Rainbow Girls. She was a member of the Woman’s Gulf Association and Bay City Book Review Club.
Survivors include: her husband, R. B. McCullough, Jr. of Bay City; a daughter, Paula Luedke of Bay City; a son, Robert McCullough of Houston; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers include Roy Lee Anderson, Tom Anderson, Vernon Leissner, Frank Sliva, Frank Hurley III and Carroll Stewart.

Janie McElhenney, 57, formerly of Bay City passed away November 27, 2011, at her home in La Grange, Texas following a long battle with diabetes. She was born December 19, 1953 in Charco, Texas to the late Manuel Montez and Inez Rodriguez Montez. Janie was a Head Start teacher for William Smith Tri County Child Development for 16 years. Her love for children lead her to become a foster parent for seven years during which she fostered 27 children. Her parents and father and mother-in-law Sara and John McElhenney, Sr. preceded her in death. Survivors include: her husband of 36 years, Ronnie McElhenney ; sons, Sean McElhenney and Jared McElhenney; granddaughter, Marilyn Paige McElhenney; sisters, Teresa Chapa and husband Serbando and Lydia Montez Peralta and a number of nieces and nephews. Anes McKissick McGlothlin, 90, died Jan. 15, 1997 in San Antonio. She was born Jan. 9, 1907 in Ashby, Texas to parents George Boone McKissick and Eunice Yeamans McKissick. She was the oldest of four children and the last surviving member of that generation. She married Ralph McGlothlin in 1928 and they lived in Palacios and Bay City for many years. They lived their last 20 years in San Angelo at the Baptist Memorials Retirement Center. Ralph preceded her in death in 1989. During their marriage they were active in their church and they were loved and respected by those who knew them. Survivors are son and daughter in law, Norman and Sidney McGlothlin of San Antonio; grandsons, Mark and Mary Ellen McGlothlin of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Matt and Barbara McGlothlin of San Antonio; great grandchildren Jessica and Jacob McGlothlin of Salt Lake City, Utah; Sister-in-law, Alma McKissick of Palacios and Gladys McGlothlin Runyon of San Angelo. Bucky McKaskle, 47, resident of Tres Palacios Oaks died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1996 at his home. Mr. McKaskle served in the U. S. Marine Corps and served in the Viet Nam conflict from 1968 to 1971. U. S. “Chuck” McMillan formerly of Tin Top, TX passed away June 7, 2012. He was born January 7, 1922 in El Campo, TX to the late Urban Sumner McMillan and Clara Dell Stapleton McMillan. He graduated from El Campo High School and was married to Flora Isaacson McMillan for 59 years until her death in 2002. He was owner of The McMillan Cotton Gin and Modern Crop Chemicals. He was a WWII Veteran, an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and R.V.’ing. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Collegeport and served on the church board for many years. He was also a member of Collegeport Volunteer Fire Dept., American Legion Post #649 and a charter member of Ricebelt Sams Travel Club. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Stanley & Marolyn McMillan, Jr. of Louise, Virginia & Ben Stanley of Seymour and Nancy & Lee Richey of Victoria; six granddaughters Robin Thonsgaard, Lori Baca, Lea Abigail Roberts, Julia Blaylock, Marcy Nelson and Amanda McLain; 15 great grandchildren and brother Waymon McMillan of Mackey, TX. In addition to his parents and wife, his sister Dawn Benson and great granddaughter Jolee Baca preceded him in death. Wm. E. McSparran died Saturday, May 18th at 11:00 p. m. Mr. McSparran, who was 82 years of age, was a prominent cattleman for many years and shortly before his death was still active on his own ranch near Midfield, where he had lived nearly all of his life. Mr. McSparran was well known virtually wherever cattle roamed, particularly in the Gulf Coast area of Texas, and his passing finds hosts of friends mourning his loss. He is survived by his wife, Alice Eliza McSparran, two sons, Nolan of Pierce, Texas, and Eugene of Sanderson, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Blake E. Garner of Bay City, Texas, and Mrs. Alma E. Coffin of Midfield, and a brother Mr. Clyde McSparran of Pierce, Texas, also a number of grandchildren and several great grandchildren. The Wheeler Funeral Home at El Campo, is in charge of services, which will be held from the Methodist Church of Midfield, at 2 p. m. Tuesday, May 21. Burial will be at the Hawley Cemetery. Active pallbearers have not been as yet been selected. Rev. Kluck will deliver the sermons, both at the church and at the cemetery.

Arcola, Texas—Gladys Leona McWhirter, 85, of Arcola, Texas, passed quietly away in the arms of daughter Kathy at home on Monday April 2, 2012, at 2:20 p.m., to be with her Lord. She was a Baptist. She was born December 8, 1927, in Jackson County, Texas to Cyrus Perry and Ica Lena Purvis Tucker. Gladys is survived by her children: Virgil Simpson, Frankie Simpson, Oscar Perry McWhirter, Myrtle Leona McWhirter, Kathy Lynn McWhirter and William Clyde McWhirter and their spouses; 2 sisters, Mabel Bobbitt of Markham and Lena Mae Trammell of Jarrell, Texas; 2 brothers, William Clyde Tucker and wife, Lou, of Brookhaven, Mississippi, and Rodney Allen Tucker and wife, Doris, of Blessing; 27 grandchildren and a host (multiple) great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and friends. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Marion “Pete” McWhirter; parents, C. P. and Ica Tucker of Palacios; children: Jeanie Allen and Virginia Simpson; and sister, Ina Lee Tucker of Palacios; brothers, Theo Thomas “Tommy” Tucker of Hearne, Texas, Charles Alvis Tucker of Palacios, Jack Dempsey Tucker of Edna, and Frances Leon Tucker of Palacios. Graveside services will be at 10 a. m., Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Hawley Cemetery, Blessing, Texas. Services will be conducted by Brother Larry Swift, pastor of First Baptist Church of Blessing, Texas.

Edith Belle McWhirter Funeral services for Edith Belle McWhirter, 68, of Bay City will be held 4 pm Wednesday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Van Vleck. Mrs. McWhirter was born Oct. 7, 1921, to Robert J. Clyde Waugh Senich in San Antonio and died July 16, 1990, at Matagorda House in Bay City. A resident of Bay City since 1945, she was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the First Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Jim Foss of Bay City; a brother, Robert J. Senich Jr. of San Antonio; and granddaughters, Chelsea Nicole Foss and Alyson Fae Foss, both of Bay City. Pallbearers are C. B. Keener, J. L. The Reverend Milton E. McWilliams, Jr., died in Fredericksburg, Texas, on March 17, 2012. A Requiem Holy Eucharist will be celebrated at 11 a.m. March 31, 2012, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, West Creek and South Bowie Streets, Fredericksburg. The Reverend Jeff Hammond will be the celebrant. Other Officiates will include The Reverend Dick Elwood, The Reverend Harley Savage and The Reverend Dyana Orrin. The organist will be Hazel Hansen. Interment will follow at the St. Barnabas Columbarium, with The Reverend Jeff Hammond as interment minister. Reverend McWilliams was born September 7, 1920, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, the capital of the one-time Creek Indian Nation. His parents were Milton E. McWilliams, Sr. and Christine Moore McWilliams. Milton grew-up in Ardmore, Oklahoma, the leading community in the one-time Chickasha Indian Nation, where he graduated from high School. Milton earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, with a history major and mathematics and chemistry minors. He was a member of Sigma Chi social fraternity, Tuff Muggs Cheer Squad, and was active in intramural sports. After his graduation, Milton received a commission in the U.S. Army Artillery and was assigned to active duty at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. Following his assignment to numerous continental U.S. (CONUS) posts, Milton served with a regimental combat artillery unit. In this capacity, he served with the First and Third Armies in the European Theater of Operations (ETO) during World War II. Upon returning to the United States in 1946, Milton entered The Church Divinity School of The Pacific, Berkley, California, where he earned a Master of Divinity degree. Milton later worked on his doctorate in Sacred Theology at The Pacific School of Religion in Berkley. While in seminary, Milton married Gretchen Elizabeth Claudius on July 17, 1948, in St. John’s Episcopal Church, Omaha, Nebraska. Gretchen also graduated from the Church Divinity School of the Pacific, Berkley. She served as director of Christian education for several congregations in the Episcopal dioceses of California, Oklahoma and Texas. Reverend and Mrs. McWilliams returned to the Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma where he was ordained to the Diaconate in 1949 and to the priesthood in 1950. He served congregations in Oklahoma City and Edmond, Oklahoma. In 1957 Milton moved to the Episcopal Diocese of Texas where he served as the first chaplain and headmaster at St. Francis Episcopal Day School in Houston. In 1962 Milton and Gretchen moved to Bay City, Texas, where he served as rector of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church until his retirement in 1986. Milton served as dean of the South-west Convocation of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas for 23 years. He was involved in such renewal ministries as Cursillio, marriage encounter weekends, beginning experience weekends, and other conferences for adults. He was also involved in the Commissions of Liturgies and Christian Education in the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. The McWilliams moved to Fredericksburg in 1986. Milton served as supply priest to numerous congregations in the Episcopal Dioceses of Texas, West Texas and Northwest Texas. In Fredericksburg, Milton and Gretchen were docents at the Nimitz Museum and were active in AARP. He also served as an early advocate for the city’s food pantry and recycling center. In addition to his parents, Milton was preceded in death in 2006 by his wife Gretchen and, in 1978, by their son, David Milton McWilliams, a U.S. Navy nuclear operator on the nuclear cruiser Long Beach. Their daughter, Stella Lynn Ortiz of Houston, died earlier this year. Stella Lynn is survived by her husband, Carlos Ortiz. Milton was also preceded in death by: his two sisters, Susan McWilliams Carlock and Gail McWilliams Peddy. Reverend McWilliams is survived by: two grandchildren and their families, Steven Wayne Boessling of Houston, and Laurie Ward of New Braunfels; as well as his God-daughter, Elizabeth Rose Higby and her husband Jeff and family of Tucson, Arizona. Milton is also survived by: three great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews, including Nancy Carlock Rogers and David Carlock, his wife Trixie and daughters Camie and Happy Carlock of Dallas. The family is grateful to the McWilliams’ longtime caregiver Vicki Trammell, and to his physicians, doctors James Partin, Rad Kothmann and Mel Jackson, all of Fredericksburg. The family further wishes to thank the faithful caregivers at Knopp Healthcare Center as well as the HCM Hospice staff.
