Private Johnnie Powell [July __, 1894 – October 19, 1918] U S. Army was born
to James** Powell [September __, 1866 - March 31, 1942] and Louisiana
(Edison) Powell [November __, 1867 – October 28, 1929] at Cedar
Lane, Matagorda County, Texas. He died from Broncho Pneumonia
bilateral [Probable Spanish Flu] at the Base Hospital, Camp Bowie,
Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. He was attached to Port # 10
Detachment Camp, 36th (T Patch) Division. He is buried
at Cedar Lane, the location of the grave is currently unknown.
Besides his parents he was survived by five brothers and one
sister. As best as can be determined from available records his
family was living at Cedar Lane when he joined the Army and when he
died. He gave his occupation as farmer on his draft registration
card. His parents are buried at Buckner's Prairie, locations
of the graves are unknown, but possibly at the
Powell Cemetery.
