Jenkins Celebrate Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Jenkins, highly respected citizens of Collegeport, celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary Sunday, March 19, with a dinner attended by 86 relatives and friends. "Open House" was held during the afternoon and many neighbors and friends called to congratulate the couple and wish them many more celebrations of their wedding days. Attending the dinner were the couple's eight children, their 30 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, four sons-in-law, and four daughters-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins moved to Collegeport 30 years ago from Madisonville and have continued to make their home in that section of Matagorda County. Palacios Beacon, March 30, 1950

Final Rites Held In Collegeport For F. L. Jenkins, 75
Funeral services were held at the
Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Thursday for Freland Lawrence Jenkins,
75, who died June 7 at his home in Collegeport. He had resided in
Collegeport for 36 years.
He is survived by four daughters,
Mrs. W. B. Knight of Centerville, Mrs. Ira Corporon, Mrs. R. L.
Wells, and Mrs. Clyde Ware, all of Collegeport; four sons, Joe F.
and P. E. of Collegeport, Julian A. of Palacios, and Austin L. of
Centerville; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Palton of San Antonio and Mrs.
Joe Pollard of Dilley; two brothers, J. M. Jenkins and A. P. Jenkins
of Madisonville.
Interment was in

Services Conducted For Mrs. F. L. Jenkins Wednesday Morning Funeral services were held Wednesday morning from the Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel for Mrs. F. L. Jenkins, 72, of Collegeport. Officiants at the services were Robert L. Craig and W. E. Coffman. Burial was in Collegeport, with Taylor Brothers in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Jenkins, a long-time resident of the county, passed away Tuesday morning. She is survived by her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Lottie Knight of Centerville , Mrs. Carrie Corporon of Collegeport; Mrs. Ruby Wells of Collegeport, and Mrs. Bessie Ware of Collegeport. Four sons, Joe Frank of Collegeport, Austin of Centerville, Julian of Palacios, and Pat of Collegeport; one sister, Mrs. Paul Walkup of Gould, Oklahoma; three brothers, Jessie Duncan of Kilgore, Frank Duncan of Palacios, and Wesley Duncan of San Antonio. Funeral Services Held In Collegeport For Mrs. Annie Bell Jenkins
Mr. Robert Craig and Mr. Bill Coffman of the Bay City Church of Christ officiated this morning at funeral services for Mrs. Annie Bell, 72, of Collegeport, who died at the Matagorda General Hospital Tuesday morning.
Mrs. Bell is survived by her husband, F. L. Bell; four daughters, Mrs. Lottie Knight of Centerville, Mrs. Carrie Corporon of Bay City; Mrs. Ruby Wells and Mrs. Bessie Ware of Collegeport and four sons, Joe Frank and Pat Jenkins of Collegeport, Austin of Centerville and Julian of the Prairie Community.
Also surviving Mrs. Bell are her sister, Mrs. Claud Walker are her sister, Mrs. Claud Walker of Gould, Okla. and brothers, Jessie Duncan of Collegeport. Frank Duncan of Palacios and Wesley Duncan of San Antonio.
Services were conducted at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home and interment was in the Collegeport Cemetery.

Funeral services for Julian Abraham Jenkins were held at the First Baptist Church Friday, January 26, at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Leon Maxwell and Rev. Rayford Harrison officiating. Interment was in Hawley Cemetery. Born in Madisonville, Texas, on April 29, 1912, he was the son of the late F. L. and Annie Belle Duncan Jenkins. A resident of Palacios since 1950, he was employed by the Matagorda County Sheriff Department as night dispatcher. He passed away Wednesday, January 24, in Wagner General Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Jean Jenkins of Palacios; one son, Julian Ray Jenkins of Houston; four sisters, Mrs. W. B. Knight of Centerville, Texas, Mrs. Ira Corporon, Mrs. Clyde Ware and Mrs. Bob Wells of Collegeport; three brothers, Joe Frank Jenkins and Pat Jenkins of Collegeport and A. L. Jenkins of Centerville. Ruby Jenkins Adams Ruby Jean Jenkins Adams, 91, of Blessing, TX passed away July 3, 2019. She was born August 28, 1927 in Henrietta, TX to the late John Robert and Jewel McLaughlin Munkres. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Julian Jenkins and Earl Adams, Jr.; son Julian Ray Jenkins; sisters Johnnie Nell Thomas and Ethel Maxine Thomas, and brother Robert Wayne Munkres. She is survived by her niece Debra Jones of Lubbock. Visitation will be 4:00-6:00pm Sunday, July 7 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Graveside services are 10:00 am Monday, July 8, 2019 at Hawley Cemetery with Dr. Mike Zimmerman officiating. Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Graveside services for Julian Ray Jenkins, 51, of Houston, are scheduled for 3 p. m. Thursday, March 2, 1995, at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing with the Rev. Mike Zimmerman officiating. Mr. Jenkins was born May 31, 1943, in Augusta, Ga., to Julian A. and Ruby Jean Munkers Jenkins and died Feb. 25, 1995, at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston. A member of the Baptist church, he was a resident of Houston for the past 20 years and a musician by trade. He graduated from Palacios High School as valedictorian in 1961. He received his degree from Texas Tech University and went through R. O. T. C. as wing commander. He was gifted with many musical talents. At the age of 6, he began playing the piano for Sunday School in the beginners’ department at First Baptist Church in Palacios. At the age of 12, he became the church organist until he left for college. He was pianist for College Heights Baptist at Lubbock and served as choir director at Reece Air Force Base. After graduation, he moved to Austin and did some college work at The University of Texas. He spent 30 years playing the piano or organ full time for various churches. He cherished the memory of playing the organ and having Mr. John Richards play his fiddle for services at First Baptist Church in Palacios. He worked as a buyer for Scarborough’s and Dillard’s in Austin and San Antonio, all the while serving as organist, pianist or choir director. He spent years working and playing the piano in Houston and five years playing at all Furrs Cafeterias in Lubbock. Mr. Jenkins had been ill about three years. The last two years he was unable to work, but was still playing music up to three weeks before his death. He was a loving son and held his parents in high regards. He brought joy to all he met, and never met one he could not love and have compassion for. Survivors include his parents Earl and Ruby Jean Jenkins Adams of Blessing; two brothers, Mark Adams of San Antonio and Tommy Winzer of Houston; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Julian A. Jenkins on Jan. 24, 1973. Honorary pallbearers are Fred Law, Joe Rowland, Fred Huitt, Fred Wesselski, Robbie Woodard and Kirby Dismukes. In lieu of usual contributions, donations may be made to the music department of First Baptist Church of Palacios or First Baptist Church of Bay City. Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home of Bay City.

Patton Ezell Jenkins Patton Ezell “Pat” Jenkins, 59, a resident of Collegeport passed away July 29 at his residence. He was a lifetime resident of Matagorda County, a rice farmer and a member of the Bay City Oddfellows Lodge. Lillian Opal Jenkins COLLEGEPORT—Lillian Opal Jenkins, 68, of Collegeport died Friday in a Port Lavaca hospital. She was born April 28, 1919, in Madison County, daughter of Daniel Lee and Irene Marsh Maddox. She was a resident of Collegeport for 50 years. Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Sunday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home chapel of Bay City. Burial will follow in Hawley Cemetery in Blessing. Surviving are a daughter, Lynette Randall of Victoria; five sons, Pat E. Patton "Pat" Ezell Jenkins Jr. Patton "Pat" Ezell Jenkins Jr. was a son to 2, a brother to 5, a daddy to 3, a grand , a great and a great great grandpaw to many, a boat captain to some and a soldier to all. Pat was born on May 2, 1939 in Collegeport, TX to Patton Ezell Jenkins Sr. and Lillian Opal Maddox Jenkins. He was a veteran who served in the United States Army. Pat sailed the high seas all over the world as a boat captain for many years. Pat had many famous quotes including " The Legend has begun", and "Be a bad ass till the end". Pat along with his famous quotes will be missed greatly as he was loved by many. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Patton Jenkins, Sr. and Lillian Jenkins; brothers, Harold Jenkins and Robert Jenkins. Left to cherish these precious memories are his loving sons, Patton Jenkins, Jerry Jenkins and wife Tammy, and Shannon Jenkins and wife Jennifer; brothers, Roland Jenkins and wife Judy, and Mike Jenkins; sister, Lynette "Sugie" Randall; his 5 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren along with numerous other loving family and treasured friends. She passed peacefully holding her son’s hand into the hands of our Lord on May the 1st 2024 after a long battle with dementia. She was a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother and a great grandmother. She never met a stranger. Always had a smile on her face. She loved to sew, dance, shop at local thrift stores or a goodwill. She volunteered at the Victoria community theater in the 1980s. She made lots of the wardrobe and acted in many productions. She was a wonderful cook, her pickled okra was the best or her pecan pies. She was a wonderful loving person. She worked for The great state of Texas for many years for the department of insurance. She loved having the grandkids over, just for a night or for a week at camp grandmaw. She loved to garden and raise chickens. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William (Billy) Randall, her brothers Patton Ezell Jenkins Jr aka Little Pat, Harold Jenkins, Robert Jenkins. Left to cherish her memories, her loving son Darrell Smith and fiancé Lona Hall, brothers Roland Jenkins and Mike Jenkins. Many grandkids, great grandkids, along with numerous other loving family and treasured friends. The celebration of life has not been set at this time.
