Mrs. Allinor R. Austin, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Stratton was born September 3, 1904, at Hawkinsville, Matagorda County, Texas. She attended Hawkinsville Public School and Jarvis Christian College. At an early age, she confessed Christ, was baptized and united with Bethlehem Christian Church, Cedar Lake, Texas. In the year of 1927, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late, Neal Austin. To this union seven children were born. Later moving to the Cedar Lane Area, she united with St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her passing. She departed this life on Saturday, June 10, 1972 in Matagorda General Hospital, Bay City, Texas. She leaves to mourn her passing, two daughters, Mrs. Johnnie Mae Thomas of Cedar Lane, and Mrs. Freddie Lee Smith of Brazoria. Six sons, Neal, Jr., Crawford and Herman Austin all of Cedar Lane, Thomas J. Austin of Bay City, Ellis Austin and Cary Austin of the U. S. Air Force. Three step-daughters, four step-sons, two sisters, Mrs. Annie M. Colvin of Corpus Christi and Mrs. Cleopatra Higgins of Brazoria, two brothers, Ausby Stratton of Corpus Christi and Jim Stratton of Houston and twelve grandchildren. Funeral services Saturday, June 17, 1972, 2:00 P. M., Bethlehem Christian Church, in Cedar Lake, Texas, Rev. Lloyd Brown, pastor and Rev. N. J. Johnson, officiating. Funeral services for Crawford Austin, 69, of Cedar Lane, will be Saturday October 21, 2000, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Baptist Church in Cedar Lane, with the Rev. H. L. Hawkins, Jr. eulogist. He was born in Cedar Lake, Wednesday, March 18, 1931, to Neal Austin, Sr. and Allinor Stratton Austin, and passed away Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, at Memorial Southwest Hospital in Houston. He was an army veteran of World War II. Survivors include: five daughters, Bernetta Tolbert and Aurthur, Tanya Smith and Albert, all of Cedar Lake, Veronica Igew and Joseph, Felecia Younger and Bill, all of Houston, and Elana Groves of Freeport; and two sons, Terry Groves and Clarice of Brazoria, Vernon Groves and Earnette of Houston; also one sister, Johnnie Mae Thomas and Samuel of Cedar Lane, three brothers, Herman Austin and Margaret of Cedar Lane, Ellis Austin and Bonnie of Pflugerville, Cary Austin and Joyce of Austin; sister-in-law, Hazel Austin of Brazoria; 15 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Gee Austin On March 1, 1899, God sent a precious blessing, the birth of a daughter, to Karey and Rebecca Gee, whom they named Frankie. Frankie confessed Christ at an early age, becoming a loyal and faithful member of Bethlehem Christian Church under the leadership of Rev. Sam Brown. She attended public school in the Cedar Lake community. Four sons preceded her in death: Jim Woodard, Cleo Austin, Lawrence Woodard, and Samuel Austin, Jr. She leaves to mourn a loving husband, Samuel Austin, Sr.; two daughters, Lillie Bernard and Rebecca Austin of Cedar Lake, Texas; four sons, Thomas Woodard and Willis Austin of Houston, Texas; George Gee of Caldwell, Texas; and Willie Austin of Cedar Lake, Texas; two sisters, Estelle Gee of Cedar Lake, Texas and Bessie Woodard of Freeport, Texas; fifty-one grandchildren, eighty-nine great-grandchildren, and nineteen great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Herman Austin was born on Tuesday, January 17, 1933 in Sargent, Texas to the late Neal and Allinor Austin. He accepted Christ at an early age at Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lake, Texas. Later he moved to the Bell Bottom community and united with St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, Cedar Lane, Texas. Although he had a limited education, God blessed Herman to become a master carpenter. He took pride in his work and his legacy and craftsmanship can be seen throughout Matagorda and Brazoria counties. He was most proud of God blessing him with the ability to build several churches in the local communities. Deacon Herman Austin was a faithful and dedicated member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Herbert L. Hawkins, Jr. Pastor. He was ordained as a deacon in 1965 under the leadership of the late Rev. N. J. Johnson. Deacon Austin served in many roles including: Chairman of the Deacon Board, Sunday School Superintendent, Brotherhood ministry and Male Chorus. Deacon Herman Austin passed away peacefully in his home on November 26, 2016 in the Bell Bottom community at the age of 83. He leaves many to cherish his memory including: his loving and devoted daughter Genevia Austin Francisco (Leon); Daughters: Joyce Stevens (Greg) and Mary Thymes (Rodges); Son Leonard Griggs; Sister Johnnie Thomas; Sister-in-law Bonnie Austin; Daughter-in-law Lois Faye Alexander; Seventeen grandchildren: Whitney, Chelious, Herman, Joyce, Kjara, Pamela, Asia, April, Jeremy, Gregory II, Jason, Marvin, Rodges, Derick, Elmo, Jack and LeNisha. He also leaves a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Neal and Allinor Austin; his loving wife Margaret Austin; two sons: Bennie Joe Austin and Robert Alexander; three grandchildren: Angel Thomas, Reginald Thomas and Franiesha Ward; and fifteen of his siblings.
