Query Posted April 2011
My mother's name was Eileen Troup married to Gordon Washburn. Eileen's parents were Voight Troup married to Francie Sheffield. Voight Troup's parents were Aaron Troup married to Laura Priest. Aaron Troups' parents were Andrew Troup married to Hannah Cobb. Andrew's parents were George Troup married to Rachel Jane Stess. I have visited the library in Van Wert within the last year and found an obit for George Troup as well as a record of marriage for his son Andrew. Andrew and his wife Hannah Cobb lived in Savannah in Ashland County and he is buried there. He was a veteran of the War with Mexico in 1846 - 1847. I know less about George and his wife Rachel Stess other than they lived in Van Wert County, had a family and had come from Adams County, PA in the late 1840's. I would like to find out if he and his wife are buried in a local cemetery there and which cemetary that is as well as anything else I can find out. Please feel free to contact me.
Surname: HOLTREY, HOLTRY

Query Posted on 20 March 2011
My family emigrated to Van Wert County in the 1850's. Some spelled it Holtrey, some Holtry. Most are buried in the Mohr Cemetery. Several years ago, I located and restored two of the stones, and straightened a third. This family fought in the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. Great-great Grandpa John married Elizabeth Hoaglin, and they built a cabin on what is now Hoaglin Creek.
If you're related, I would like to hear from you.

I am researching my great great grandfather. He immigrated in 1834 from Germany to Ohio. On the ship he was listed as "Jean Ehrmann". He came with his wife, Charlotte, son/daughter Christian/Christtine, son Jean (my great grandfather: Adam John Areman/Ehrmann). I have them on the 1850 census, Adam, Charlotte, Emily, Christian, Adam J., Florina, Margaret, Catharine. Then I have Margaretha's marriage to a Schumm. I have Christian's marriage and family. I have Adam John's moving to Minnesota with his future wife, Orrillia Harding and her family Hiram Harding. They then move to Iowa where they lived and died. I have the death of Charlotte in 1851 from Lutheran church records. I have the marriage of Jean Adam Ehrenman to Barbara Dietrich in August, 1853 from Lutheran church records. Barabara died in September 1853 and Adam Ehrenman died in November 1853. That is all I have. I do not know what happened to the youngest child, Catharine. Maragret was living with the Adam Dietrich family in 1860. This is realistic since the Adam Dietrich family immigrated in 1834 on the same ship as Jean Adam Ehrmann and family. I am hoping if you create a surname of "Ehrmann/Ehrenman/Eherenman" on your registry, someone may be answer the above questions.
Thank you.
