They can be searched from the list archives, the Board Search utility or by searching the Muskingum OHGenWeb site. This gives the submitted records the largest audience and cuts down on the number of places a person would have to look. Searching any of these sources should find the same obits. LDS' Family Search databases contain records from many county marriage books. I have found them to be very accurate and a great source for looking for your ancestors. Here follows are batch numbers for the marriage databases of Muskingum County and the surrounding counties where you may find Muskingum County residents.

There are three things you must enter to use the search and that is the batch number from the charts above, the region "North America", and the name or names. I have used combinations of first, last and spouse names to find people with spellngs that defy being found. You can just put in just your surname but chances are you will not find all the people you are looking for. The spellings are the same as found in the marriage books and no attempt has been made to correct them.
If for instance you are looking for Schwartz, chances are it might also be found as Shwartz, Shwarts or Swarts. For this reason, you can do lookups of the spouse and first names. If John Schwartz married Jane Smith, either look for Jane Smith or narrow it down by including the spouses first name of John. I have even found people by just looking for the first names and no last names. This takes longer and sometimes will cause time out errors if the resulting search finds too many people, but is worth a shot if you are having problems with alternate spellings. It works better with uncommon names. Just looking for John and Jane will result in too many hits. Conrad and Jane will probably result in only a few hits.
It is not necessary in these marriage records to include the parents names the country or state or the event type and dates. There are no parental information in the marriage records and the batches are already limited to a date range and to just marriages. Also do not use the "Exact Spelling" option.
When done entering your criteria, hit "Search." To return to the previous screen, use your browsers "back" button. I find it easier to right click on the search results and open them in another window rather than have to keep returning to the previous screen and wait for the site to re-search the data.
Not all marriages are recorded in these data bases or in the Marriage Books so if you do not find your ancestors marriage, it doesn't mean it did not take place, just that it was not found when these records were compiled. There is also another method for searching the IGI databases which includes a listing of most of the batch numbers for the marriage and baptism records found in the LDS IGI database. It is provided by a third party site called "IGI Batch Numbers - British Isles and North America" and is located at:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers.htm#PageOne benefit of using this method of accessing the IGI records is that you can go to a specific page in the search results instead of having to page through them one at a time. This also overcomes the LDS limitation of only being able to return 5000 records in a search. This makes it easy to just use one batch file and enter nothing in the search and have the entire batch as the result. You can then jump to page 1, 2, 50, 100 or any page you so desire. This way if you are looking for names starting with "S" you don't have to go through "A-R" to get to them. It does take a few hits and misses to narrow it down to what page they're on but it is a lot easier than going through page by page. The only drawback to this method is that you have to back up after each page and enter the next page you want. Using the LDS links for next page does not work for this method. This site uses a "backdoor" approach so using their search engine is a must if you want to browse through the records.
I won't bother with a detailed explanation of how to use their site as they do a better job of it. I'm sure you will find this an invaluable aid in using the IGI records.
