Birth and Death records were required by the State of Ohio from 1867 onward. From that time until Dec. 10, 1908, those records can be found in the Muskingum County Probate Court if they existed at all.
Birth and Death records from Dec. 20, 1908 to present for Zanesville and Muskingum County can be found at the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department. Through an on going archiving process, records older than 50 years are being copied to the Ohio Historical Society.

Marriages records were required by the State of Ohio to be recorded since September 7, 1949 and are on file at the Ohio Department of Health. Before that date, if a marriage record was recorded it would be found in the Muskingum County Probate Court. Early marriage records included names of the bride and groom, date of event, the county in which the marriage took place, and sometimes the place of ceremony and the person who performed the ceremony. County records from about 1920 onward included much more information about the couple that would be of genealogical interest.
Records of divorce or dissolution were kept at the Supreme Court of the State of Ohio until 1852. From that time on they were filed at the Muskingum Court of Common Pleas until September 7, 1949. AT that time they were required to be filed at the Ohio Department of Health.
Will and Estate records were filed in the Muskingum County Probate Court from 1804 onward. These would also include intestate records

The Muskingum Probate records can contain Wills, Inventories and records of bills paid to and by the estate. The indexes can be found HERE
After finding the file number you can find the Probate records by choosing the Microfilm collection that contains the file number and then browsing the records to find the probate records.
To find the Probate Case files assoiated with the file number, click HERE. Find the Mirofilm collection that contain the file number found in the index under the NOTE column. To open and browse that collection click on the Camera Icon under the FORMAT column. You will have to jump around to find the start of the case files and they usually are followed by many pages.
