for JOHN N. WING:
This project started with the rediscovery of some
family notes provided by my late aunt Barbara Wing Smith which listed the
children and grandchildren of John N. Wing and Sylvia Daggett Wing. I decided to
attempt to put together a family tree so that future generations of my
descendants might know their ancestry. The project was going quite slowly until
I found John and his family in the census records for Waldo County for
1860,1870, and 1880. I then found out about the "History and Genealogy of
Morrill, Maine" by Timothy W. Robinson, Theodore Mears Morse, and Mr. and Mrs.
Charles White. I was able to obtain a copy of the 1983 version in very good
condition and to my great surprise the entire family is listed there. This
family tree is based on the information from this book. I was originally just
going to do a genealogy from John and Sylvia down through Harry Levant Wing, my
grandfather, but with so much information available in this book I included
family data from the families that the Wing's intermarried with. Except for any
transcription errors on my part the data is as accurate as provided in this
book. Since I was originally doing the descendants of Harry Levant Wing I have
included his children, my aunts and uncles, here also. I have documented data on
their births, marriages, and deaths. There are 3 generations beyond these
children at this time but since most of them are still alive the data is not
given here.
Given all this information one piece of information has
eluded me: The ancestry of John N. Wing is still not known.
Family notes
indicated that John N. Wing was born September 22, 1804 in Whitefield , ME.
Whitefield, ME has no record of his birth. Data from the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter- day Saints indicate that a John N. Wing, married to Silvia W.
Daggett, was born 1810 in Maine. The 1860 census for Morrill lists John as 50.
The 1870 census lists him as 65. Both census lists him as being born in Maine.

The 1880 census lists Sylvia W. Wing as
65 years old. Information from www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/IGI lists a
Silvia Weston Daggett being born on August 6, 1814 in Union, Knox, Maine to
Jonathan Daggett and Betsey Martin.
Silvia is listed as Silvia, Sylvia,
and Sylva. The Church of Latter Day Saints list her as Silvia Weston Daggett,
born August 6, 1814 in Union, Waldo, ME, married to John N. Wing, and died June
16, 1893 in Morrill, Waldo, ME. The information on her parents and paternal
grandparents was obtained from same source.
Silvia was the seventh of
eight children of Jonathan's first wife.
Silvia's known ancestry is
quite extensive. It was found on the "RootsWeb's WorldConnect Project:" website.
It was found while looking for the origin of Weston in her name. It turns out
that her father's brother, William, married Silvia Church Weston about seven
years prior to her birth. At the same time as looking for this connection I
found a pedigree tree going back many generations and a reference to a book "The
History of Martha's Vineyard Volume III Family Genealogies" by Dr. Charles Bank.
The Daggett genealogy is documented in this book along with a number of families
that show up in the Daggett family tree. This can be viewed on the web at

The Daggett genealogy contained in
this book shows that one line of her descendancy is from John Howland and
Elizabeth (Tilley) Howland of the "Mayflower".

1880 Census for Colorado for Edward and Margaret Blake as a 10 year old. This

Genealogy of Morrill, Maine states that his first two children were born in
Jackson, ME and the last seven in Saugus, MA. In fact: George and Malcolm were
born in Jackson, ME; Valesca was born in Somerville, MA; Barbara was born in
Boston, MA; Bernice and Hester were born in Saugus, MA; Harry, Rosemary, and Guy
were born in Lynn, MA. The entire family did live in Saugus for a number of
