"Somewhere in France"
Sept. 20, 1918.
Dear Mother and Father
I take the pleasure in answering you most welcome letter I received the other day and was more than pleased, to hear from home. I was in the line when I got your letter so I had to wait until I got out to answer it. I came out of the line with trench fever and I am in the hosipital now but expect to be out soon. I would sooner be with the boys in the Battalion. I was in the hosiptal so much when I was in England that I am sick and tired of it.
Well Mother, you asked me if I met any of the boys I knew, no not yet. Do you remember mother when I was in Windsor Mills you sent me a letter to come home. How I wish I could do it now, as I I am so homesick that I don't no what to do. I supposed I will have to stay that way, I have stood it so long I will have to a while longer. We are having some nice weather here now. Well dear mother, I wish you wouldn't worry over me so much. I am all right and I will be going back some day and you and I will have a dance together. When I think of the good times gone by I could sit down and cry. Give my Kind regards to father and tell him not to work to hard. Well I must ring off for this time, Good-by from your loving son,
Damase Cheverier.
