My great-grandmother was Roberta Ophelia Perry, b) 12 Feb 1862 in MD.
Her parents were Charles Carter Perry, b) 1824 in VA and Elizabeth Frances Lloyd, b) 1833 MD, dau. of Minchin Lloyd, Jr.

Charles C. Perry's father is Robert Perry, b) 1798, who had a brother Burdett Perry, Strawn or Straughan Perry, and others, all of who were the children of Robert Perry, b) 1770 Charles Co., MD, and Elizabeth Carter Ratliff (Ratcliff), b) 19 April 1775 in Stafford Co., VA.

Elizabeth Carter Ratliff (Ratcliff)'s parents were Zephaniah Ratliff (Ratcliff) and Henrietta Carter, b) 1757 in Stafford Co., VA. Zephaniah also married Philadelphia Stone of Stafford Co. on 16 March 1780 in Stafford Co., VA. Philadelphia Stone was born there on 26 September 1755.

Henrietta Carter's parents are unknown, at least to me, at this time, however she would then be the great-granddaughter(?) of Robert Carter, Esq. and Sarah Burdett.

It is easy to pick up Sarah Burdett's ancestry, if  indeed she was also married Col. Gerard Fowke, which I believe is the case.

The marriage of Robert Carter, Esq. and Sarah Burdett, again, is recorded in the Overwharton Parish Register.

Anyone who can help fill in my blanks, please contact me. All help will be appreciated. Mary Pat, anamcaramj@aol.com  (This query was updated 2/7/13)

Wallace Descendants

I am a direct descendant of Dr. Gustavus Brown of Port Tabacco, Charles County, MD.  His wife, Frances Fowke Brown, died at Dipple Plantation (1744), Stafford County, VA, and is buried in the cemetery that surrounds Aquia Chapel in Stafford County. My line of the Brown family eventually moved on to Breckinridge County, KY, then to Mayview, MO and then Lee's Summit, MO where I was born. I now live in Stafford County, VA. I have been able to find that the Family Bible is (was??) owned by another direct descendant, a Mrs. H. Wallace of Fredericksburg.  I am looking for any of Mrs. Wallace descendants. Foley / Owens

I recently hit a brick wall looking for information on John Foley and Nancy Owens.  I have since seen an internet posting linking them to Henry Foley and Anne Courtney of Shenandoah County VA.  I now have documented John Foley who married Nancy Owens.  And I have undocumented material that shows John's parents to be Henry & Anne (Courtney) Foley. Henry's father to be Richard and Richard's parents to be Thomas and Martha (Bryant) Foley all from either Stafford or Shenandoah County Virginia.  Does
anyone have information on the line and if so, how is it documented?  Anyone with information on this family lineage, please contact Linda Foley Surrem, lgsurrem@hotmail.com

Tungate

I am looking for Elizabeth & William Tungate. Elizabeth and her family went to Warren Co, OH, then Allen County, OH.  She died in 1850 at the supposed age of 105 and I don't have any reason to dispute that information.  I have every reason to believe her husband was William Tungate because when he disappears from the Stafford Co. census, then she appears.  What I don't know is her surname and when they might have married.  I believe she spent her life in Stafford Co until leaving for Ohio.  Since he must have had property, I will need to see if I can find property information and some kind of a deed, if it might still exist.  There should have been some kind of a will also or something transferring the property when they left for Ohio.  The last name is spelled quite a few different ways and that doesn't help when doing the research.  If you have any other information that might help me out, let me know. Thanks, Jannice Rasor Hubbard, JanniceH@grabillcabinets.com

McLoed

I'm trying to locate information on James McLoed, born in Stafford in 1764.  James was married to Susan Lotspeich, and died 1811 in Bourbon, Kentucky.  I believe that James' father was John McCloud, born 1741 in Maryland.  John's Revolutionary War Pension information states that he served while living in Stafford, VA, then moved on to Bourbon, KY where he died after 1838.  James and Susan (Lotspeich) McLoed were the parents of at least five children:  William Lotspeich (1789-1876, married Sarah Stark), Elizabeth (1791-1870, married George Kleiser), Emily (married Thomas Armstrong), George (1793-1870, married Catherine Miller), and Susannah (1799-?, married Samuel Wasson). Thanks, Jeannie Osborn McLoed jcobc@yahoo.com
