1911 Feb 25 Death of Father: Virginia, Stafford County, Hartwood. James Thorton Courtney (1836-1911).
1937 Apr 11 Death: Virginia, Fredericksburg. Mrs. Margaret Virginia Stephens, 71, a well known resident of Fredericksburg for a number of years, died Saturday morning a 8 o'clock at her home at 1112 Sophia Street after being critically ill for about two weeks.

1937 Apr 12 Burial: Virginia, Stafford County, Falmouth. Margaret was buried in Falmouth Cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by Dr. Robert F. Caverlee from the Fredericksburg Baptist Church. Active pallbearers were: B. K. Winston, Robert Huffman, W. S. Chesley, George S. Berry, John W. Berry, and J. M. H. Willis.
Mrs. Stephens was survived by one daughter, Lillian Stephens, of Fredericksburg, two sons, S. Hysen Stephens, of Fredericksburg, and M. H. Stephens, of Sykesville, Md.; one brother, Madison Courtney, and one sister, Miss Cornelia Courtney, both od R. F. D. 1, Fredericksburg.

Medical Notes: Mrs. Stephens had been a semi-invalid since 1931 when she suffered two strokes of paralysis. Her condition did not become alarming until about a fortnight before her death when she was taken quite sick and gradually became worse.
