Stultz Cemetery at Fairview

The cemetery is located on the original land grant of Jacob Gochenour. This part of the property was divided off that original grant for his son John Gochenour and it's believed John built the home on the property. At John's death his son Henry acquired the property. Henry had 3 daughters and the eldest Barbara Ann married William H. Smoot. The will of Henry Gochenour (son of John) dated April 15, 1861 probated June 10, 1861 states this land was bequeathed to his son-in-law William H. Smoot. There are several Limestone markers and it's possible the fieldstone makers found in this cemetery are that of the Gochenours. Also there are 3 marble manufactured stones but all are broken and 2 are missing the names and dates. Roberta Stultz's (see below) stone is broken off across the husbands name and the bottom piece of the stone is missing. This cemetery was surveyed October 18, 2011 by Jackie Milburn & Warren Swartz, more information will be added when found.

Stultz, Roburta A. Smoot; abt. 1850 - 1879; Wife of William Perry Stultz; Daughter of William H. Smoot and Barbara Ann Gochenour; Roberta was given a pet name "Alberty" by her grandfather Henry Gochenour, for he refered to her as "Alberty" in his will probated April 15, 1861; Roberta married William Perry Stultz on September 20, 1877 in Shenandoah County, Virginia. One child was born to this union, William Homer Stultz, born March 1879. It's believed Roberta died about this time.
