Enlistment: Nickelsville, Scott Co., age 22, 7/2/61.

Present thru 7/13/61. Hosp., sick, Staunton, by 8/31/61. Later sent home on sick leave. AWOL from unit 10/12/61 thru 3/31/62. Apparently without proper authorization, joined Co. A 25th Va. Cav. Regt. early in 1862. Failed reelection in 48th Va. 4/21/62 dropped from rolls. Died, "suddenly w/o sickness," Scott Co., 11/5/1903.
