Present thru 10/15/61. Absent sick by 2/28/62, then on sick leave and hosp. sick, Lynchburg thru 4/30/62. Pension application says WIA rt. arm. Died, rheumatism and valvular lesion of the heart, Alley, Scott Co., 3/20/95.
The 1860 Census of Scott Co. lists James with his wife Matilda and his son Trig.
Two of his brothers, William D. and Johiel H. were killed by bushwackers on June 11, 1864, in Scott County.
