We're glad that you are interested in becoming a part of the MDGenWeb Project! We appreciate our volunteers and are always excited to have new volunteers! Adopting a county, transcribing data, or participating in other Project areas can be very fulfilling, both in learning more about the history of Maryland and/or your chosen county, and helping others with their genealogical research. You'll feel the satisfaction of knowing that you've made an important contribution to bolster the lofty ideal of making genealogical data freely available to researchers via the Internet. Join our team today!
Are you interested in promoting MDGenWeb at a meeting, library, or other local place? You are welcomed to print and distribute copies of our brochure (2-page pdf).
Do you have a Maryland ancestor with a history in multiple boroughs/census areas? Please consider sharing information about the ancestor with us.
Do you have individual items about a Maryland ancestor such as a will, a family Bible page of births, baptisms, marriages, and deaths; a birth certificate, a will; a death certificate; a photo ... ? Please consider donating a copy of the image and/or transcription.
Did you find a website or book that would help research Maryland family histories, but it isn't mentioned on MDGenWeb? Please let us know.
Do you have access to a book of Maryland genealogical records that is not available to read online? Please consider volunteering to do look-ups.
Test the MDGenWeb site. If you have the willingness to contribute, but feel you have nothing tangible to offer, consider putting the MDGenWeb site through its paces. There are about 100 html pages, with photos, a couple dozen links to pdf files, links to County homepages, and numerous off-site links. Browse through the website looking for broken links, missing images, typos, etc. Then, email your findings to the State Coordinator.
Are you interested in transcribing data? We are always seeking volunteers to transcribe collections of material, such as newspaper abstracts, census records, tax lists, cemeteries, church records collections, and other data collection projects. Almost any kind of historical record has value to the genealogical researcher.
