William HAMBY was born in St. George's Parish, Harford County, Maryland,
in 1744. His mother was Elizabeth HAMBY. His father was possibly a
DAVIS. He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. He died in North
Carolina or Tennessee in 1840. He is one of only two Revolutionary War
soldiers buried in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. His
gravestone is in Cades Cove.
William Hamby was my 4th great
grandfather. Most of what we know about him came from a request for a
Revolutionary War pension.
