FORT McCOY -- Ray M. Andry, 72, a retired inspector with Allison Aircraft, General Motors, died Jan. 31, 1992, at Marion Community Hospital.

A native of Huntington, Ind., Mr. Andry was a winter resident for 15 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in World War II. He was Christian.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Lenore Andry, Fort McCoy; daughter, Janet Johnson, Indianapolis, Ind.; sons, Bill Andry, Aurora, Ill., Donald Andry and John Andry, both of Indianapolis; sister, Bonnie Schuler, Jasper, Ind.; and brothers, Oatis Andry, Indianapolis, Farrel Andry, Clearwater, and Carl Andry, Muncie, Ind.

Alberta Brown, 73

OCALA -- Alberta Brown, 73, a retired Forest High School math teacher, died Jan. 30, 1992, the result of a brain hemorrhage.

A native of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Brown came here 34 years ago from there. She was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church; the League of Women Voters; Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority; Utopians; and the NAACP. She received numerous service and membership awards from her church, her sorority and her college alumni association. She was an avid traveler who had visited more than 18 countries on four continents.

Survivors include her sons, Benjamin F. Brown, Broomfield, Colo., Stephen E. Brown, Laurel, Md., and Emery N. Brown, Watertown, Mass.; sisters, Anita M. Brown, Pittsburgh, Thelma E. Whitsett, Washington, D.C., and Odella F. Whitsett, New York City; and brothers, James L. Whitsett, Sicklersville, N.J., Wilbert L. Whitsett and Bernard D. Whitsett, both of Washington, D.C.

BELLEVIEW -- Joel H. Chandler, 27, an electronic technician and draftsman, died Jan. 29, 1992, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.

A native of Montgomery, Ala., Mr. Chandler lived most of his life in Putnam County before coming to Belleview a year ago.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie Chandler, Belleview; his mother, Josie Ryals, Palatka; brothers, Carl Cooper, Fort Worth, Texas, and Jesse Cooper, Citra; and sister, Elaine Gilham.

Ralph Charles Parmer, 71

HOLDER -- Ralph Charles Parmer, 71, a retired mechanic with A.T. Carrol Contracting, died Jan. 30, 1992, at home.

A native of Laurel Hill, Mr. Parmer came here in 1929 from there. He was a member of Church of God, Citrus Springs. Mr. Parmer was a World War II prisoner of war in Germany. He was captured during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Hernando.

Survivors include his wife, Izella Parmer, Holder; sons, Russell F. Hudson, Tecumseh, Okla., and Ralph D. Parmer, Davisville, W.Va.; daughters, Kathy Wells and Lorry Billups, both of Holder; sister, Bertha P. Pridgen, Lecanto; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

INVERNESS -- Frances Irene Pikowicz, 77, died Jan. 30, 1992, in Inverness.

She was born in Dickson City, Pa., and came here two weeks ago from Toms River, N.J. Mrs. Pikowicz was a member of the Democratic Club; St. Mary's Rosary Society; and Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 3372, all of Perth Amboy. She was Catholic.

Survivors include her son, Andre Pikowicz, Folsom, Calif.; daughter, Joan Sinka, Inverness; brother, Joseph Wroblewski, Cape Canaveral; sister, Florence Wontrowski, Dickson City, Pa.; and three grandchildren.

OCALA -- Louise B. Reid, 82, a statement teller for banking, died Jan. 30, 1992, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.

A native of Boyette, Mrs. Reid came here 10 years ago from Tampa. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ocala and Tampa.

Survivors include her son, Hal T. Reid, Ocala; and four grandchildren.

Mr. Ross was a native of Inglis and he was Baptist.

SALT SPRINGS -- Franklin E. Rush, 82, a retired carpenter, died Jan. 31, 1992, at Marion Community Hospital.

A native of McIntosh, Mr. Rush came here 18 years ago from Duval County. He was a charter member of the Forest Community Church and the Machinist Union of Jacksonville.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice A. OCALA -- Cyril George Avery, 81, retired regional vice president of Crotty Brothers Food Service, died Feb. 1, 1992, at Marion Community Hospital.

A native of Lawrence, Mass., he came here 20 years ago from Hollywood.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Avery, Ocala; three sons, William S. Avery, New York City, Butch and Bobby Dove, both of Ocala; three daughters, Justine Thomas, Sebring, Patricia Wobb and Frances Ramaqe, both of Ocala; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

INVERNESS -- Violet M. Campbell, 64, died Feb. 1, 1992, in Ocala.

A native of Chillicothe, Ohio, she was a winter resident of Inverness from Russells Point, Ohio.

Mrs. Campbell was a Protestant; she was preceded in death by her husband, Guy M. Campbell.

A native of Linwood, N.J., he came here six years ago from Atlantic City, N.J.

Mr. Capille was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ocala and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

LAFOLLETTE, Tenn. -- Bert J. Colvin, 78, former Ocala resident, died Jan. 4, 1992, at LaFollette Medical Center, Tennessee.

A native of Oil Springs, Ky., he and his wife lived in Ocala in the 1970s and 1980s.

Mr. Colvin was a member of the Church of Christ in Meally, Ky., and co-founder of an automotive dealership located in Kentucky.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Auxier Colvin, LaFollete, Tenn.; two sons, Emery Gayle Colvin, Ocala, and Jerald Lee Colvin, Campbellsville, Ky.; a brother, Don Colvin, Oil Springs, Ky.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Victor E. Mikell Sr., 69

WILLISTON -- Victor Earl Mikell Sr., 69, retired insurance agent with Gulf Life Insurance, died Jan. 31, 1992, at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville.

A native of Trenton, he came here 42 years ago from Archer.

Mr. Mikell was a member of the Morriston Church of Christ, Morriston; the Williston Kiwanis Club; a U.S. Navy submarine World War II veteran; in 1979 he was the Levy County Veterans Service officer and the administrator for the emergency medical services in Levy County for 10 years. In 1990 he became a personal representative for the Knauff Funeral Homes in Chiefland and Williston.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Mikell, Williston; two sons, Mike Mikell, Crestview, and Chuck Mikell, Bronson; a daughter, Cathy Mikell, Gainesville; two brothers, Odell Mikell, Trenton, and Harold Mikell, Tallahassee; three sisters, Rose Sylvester, Nashua, N.H., Emma Lee Marlowe, Newberry, and Mary Moody, Montgomery, Ala.; and five grandchildren.

A native of Orton, W.Va., he came here in 1976 from LaGrange, Ohio.

Mr. Moore was a Baptist; a member of the LaGrange Masonic Lodge No. 399 F&AM; a 32nd-degree Mason; and a member of Scottish Rite Bodies.

Mr. Dabney was a member of First Baptist Church of Summerfield; Belleview Evening Lion's Club; and American Legion Post No. 284 in Belleview; he was a board member of the Humane Society of Marion County; and a U.S. Army World War II Veteran serving in Europe during the Battle of the Bulge.

Survivors include his wife, Ramona Dabney, Summerfield; a son, Melvin H. Dabney, Ocala; and a sister, Shirley Mae Muns, Atlanta.

Mrs. Connor was a Catholic; and was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton E. Connor.

The Rev. Douglas was a member of United Pentacostal Church of Ocala; and served as chairman of United Pentacostal Church Campground Committee.

CRYSTAL RIVER -- Clarence R. Cross, 68, retired senior chief of the U.S. Navy after 27 years of service, died Feb. 1, 1992, at the Veterans Hospital in Gainesville.

Mr. Cross was a native of Gretna; was a Baptist; a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, branch No. 186, Hernando; and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 139, Homosassa.

Survivors include his wife, Gwendolyn "Jack" Cross, Crystal River; a daughter, Toni M. Standard, Crystal River; his mother, Martha Cross, Ocala; brothers, William and Robert Cross, both of Ocala; sisters, Sara Bethea and Betty Howell, both of Ocala; and two granddaughters.

A native of Montreal, Canada, Mrs. Cushman came here in 1984 from New York. She was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Tammy Marie Freytag, Belleview, and Carol Ann Cushman, Yaddow, N.Y.; her mother; several brothers and sisters; and two grandchildren.

A native of Jodie, W.Va., Mr. Dunbar came here in 1973 from Indiana. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in World War II. Mr. Dunbar was a passionate golfer and was a member of Rolling Greens Golf and Country Club. He was past president of Kiwanis, Michigan Chapter, and a member of Dixboro School Board.

LECANTO -- Anne Podbur, 74, a retired bookkeeper in the insurance industry, died Feb. 1, 1992, at Timber Ridge Nursing Home in Ocala.

A native of New York City, Mrs. Podbur came here four years ago from Lake Kiamesha, N.Y. She was Jewish.

She was a former Worthy Matron of the Newberry Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star; a Sunday School teacher at the First United Methodist Church in Newberry and Ocala; a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter No. 19, Ocala. Mrs. Fielding was a member of First United Methodist Church of Gainesville.

Lawton Martin, 87

OCALA -- Lawton William Martin, 87, retired vice president of Barnett Bank of Marion County, died Feb. 7, 1992, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.

A native of Moss Bluff, Mr. Martin was a lifelong resident of Marion County. He was a member of one of Marion County's pioneer families. After graduation from high school, Mr. Martin was employed by Munroe and Chambliss National Bank. He retired 45 years later as vice president.

As a young man on Election Day, Mr. Martin would work all night counting votes by hand, his family said. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunted and fished all of his life.

Mr. Martin was a charter member of the Marion Hunting Club. He held memberships in various local cattleman's and watermelon growers' associations. He was a member of the local Elks Lodge and First United Methodist Church of Ocala.

Survivors include his wife, Noelwah Blankenship Martin, Ocala; daughters, Bettie Allen McLeod, Ocala; sister, Thelma Hartman, Lynne; three grandsons; and five great-grandchildren.

Albert W. Gurauskas, 64

OCALA -- Albert William Garauskas, 64, a U.S. Air Force military police staff sergeant, died Feb. 8, 1992, in Ocala.

A native of Detroit, he came here 10 years ago from Miami.

Mr. Gurauskas was a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, Ursula Gurauskas, Ocala; three daughters, Florence Emmert, Ocala, Loretta Schneider, Miami, and Bettina Wiebe, West Palm Beach; a sister, Valeria Washalefsky, Alaska; and four grandchildren.

Sallie Mae Hummer, 81

OCALA -- Sallie Mae Davis Caylor Hummer, 81, a winter resident of Ocala, passed away Jan. 18, 1992, in Dalton, Ga.

A native of Whitfield County, Georgia, she had begun wintering in Ocala 10 years ago.

She was active at Snowbird Haven at the Ocala Municipal Trailer Park and was an honorary member in the Ocala Pennsylvania Club. She was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 140, of Haddonfield, N.J.

Survivors include a son, James Hoyt of Richland, Wash.; two sisters, Lillian Polhemus of West Palm Beach and R. Elizabeth Woods Underwood of Dalton, Ga.; four grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Floyd A. Specht, 83

OCALA -- Floyd Albert Specht, 83, retired electrician for Mack Truck Inc., died Feb. 7, 1992, at Oakhurst Manor Nursing Home.

A native of Allentown, Pa., he came here five years ago from there.

Mr. Specht was past master of Greenleaf Lodge No. 561, Allentown, Pa.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol Specht Devilbiss, Ponte Vedra; a son, George F. Specht, Ocala; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Doris A. Johnson, 72

OCALA -- Doris A. Johnson, 72, former owner of Casa Contenta Ranch, Ocala Chrome Plating and Ocala Mark, died Feb 7, 1992, at home.

A native of Chicago, she came here 45 years ago from there.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of Grace Episcopal Church; American Legion Auxiliary No. 27, serving as president, vice president, treasurer, secretary and past district president; member of 4 District Salon No. 521; and a charter member of the Ocala Gem and Mineral Society.

Survivors include a son, Vernon H. "Sonny" Johnson Jr., Ocala; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
