Death of Mr Gadi Yates:
On last Saturday afternoon
Mr Yates was in Bonifay in apparently good health for a man of his age. Sunday
he was quite sick and Dr Marshburn was called. Monday morning Dr Farrior was
called from Chipley in consultation, but despite all that the doctors could do,
Death, relentless, pressed his claim till 1:00 pm Monday when Mr Yates joined
that silent majority in the great beyond.
Mr Yates was born in Jackson
county November 30, 1833, and moved to Washington county when a boy. Talking
with him was like reading history of the pioneer days of this region.
All
his life he was a farmer and stock raiser, a man of tireless industry and a
friend to the needy. His home was open to the wayfarer, a place of jolly good
fellowship to all his friends whom he numbered by the score. He leaves four
sons, one daughter and many other relatives to mourn his departure. The burial
at Bethel cemetery Tuesday afternoon was attended by a large number of people,
bearing testimony to their high esteem for him whom they will see on earth no
more.

Mr and Mrs Ed Yates passed away. Mrs Yates resides at
Britt Bros. Still, a few miles southeast of town and Mrs Yates was
enroute home from North Carolina and while enroute the child was taken
ill, but its condition did not become serious until they reached this
place on the Tuesday evening train. Reaching the hotel, a Physician was
immediately summoned, but despite medical aid and skill the littler
