1860 Census Agricultural Schedule

Introduction

The 1860 Agricultural Schedule for Florida was microfilmed by the University of North Carolina Library under a grant from the National Science Foundation and filmed from original records at Florida State University. There are forty-six columns of information on each individual. Only the head of the household is addressed. I using the six columns of information that I believe to be the most significant for genealogical purposes. The columns used are shown below:

  •   1.    Name of Owner
  •   2.    Acres of Improved Land
  •   3.    Acres of Unimproved Land
  •   4.    Cash Value of the Farm
  •   5.    Value of Farm Implements and Machinery
  • 13.    Value of Livestock

The dash symbol (-) is used to maintain spacing where information in a column is left blank. In some instances, information shown as property acreage is rented.
