Marion Cemetery is on County owned right-of-way on property that is owned by George Newsome. Hamilton County Property Appraiser Parcel 3075-015 in Section 36, Twp 1N, Range 13E.
The property was originally part of the Marion Plantation. The Cemetery has a county owned right-of-way accessible from the property of Mr. Shelton Mitchell at 7193 SW CR 158. Note: Shelton Mitchell advised there are more than 60 unmarked slave graves in this cemetery.
From I-75 take Exit 451 onto US Hwy 129 and travel .6 miles and turn right onto CR 158 (SW). Travel CR 158 for 2.7 miles to 7193 SW CR 158 turn into the Mitchell's unpaved drive and travel 1/10 mile turn left to gated entrance and travel unpaved roadway 3/10 mile to cemetery.
Marion Cemetery was first published by Winnie Smith Hodges in Cemeteries of Hamilton County in 1991. On February 3, 2009, accompanied by Mr. Shelton Mitchell, Lesleigh Laite Butts re-surveyed and photographed the cemetery.
