Fletcher Cemetery

Jasper, Florida

Abstracted By: Lesleigh Laite Butts

Fletcher Cemetery was located in the west forty of parcel 1138-0000 in Section 30 Twp 2N Range 16E in Hamilton County formerly owned by the Fletcher family. There once was a big yellow house and sawmill owned by Mr. Fletcher. This was where Mr. Fletcher was killed. After he was buried, the mill built a house for his family.

The Fletcher cemetery was decimated when it was prepared for planting pines. It was reported by local land owner, Mr. Fouraker, that he was present when the land was being prepared for planting pine forest and what remained of headstones had been bulldozed.

From I-75 take Exit 451 onto US 129 North and travel 5.0 miles to the intersection of US 129 and Hatley Street in downtown Jasper. Turn right onto SE 2nd Avenue (SR6) and travel 3.3 miles and turn left onto NE 36th Drive. Travel NE 36th Drive for 9.7 miles to property planted in pines.

Fletcher Cemetery was first canvassed by Winnie Smith Hodges and published in her book "Cemeteries of Hamilton county in 1991.
