Dempsey Private Cemetery, Hamilton County, Florida is no longer in existence. It's location was in Sect 6 Twp 1N Range13E; Lat: 30.31.19N, Long: 83.03.41W approx.
From Jasper, go north on US 41 for 6 miles, turn left (west) on State Road #6, go 1 mile to cemetery which lies on right (north) of road 3/10 mile in a field. (The FL Department of Transportation had to avoid the cemetery in building I-75; a large curve was placed in I-75 to avoid running right through the cemetery).
Mrs. Winnie Hodges of Jasper stated in an interview that the Dempsey Private Cemetery was located where Scottish Inn Motel was built at SR 6 at I-75. She said the interments were reportedly transferred to New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. However, a survey of New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery did not find Andrew, Margaret, Martha, Mathew or William Dempsey.
