Had Been in Poor Health for a Number of Years - - Born in Sheboygan 55 Years Ago.

Albert L. Quasius, born in this city 55 years ago, and known to the greater number of citizens died at an early hour Sunday morning, his illness dating back for more than a year.

While his death had been expected for some time, still his passing will cause sorrow among a large number who had been intimately acquainted with him, Mr. Quasius was born in this city October 12, 1855 and as a youth learned the cigar trade, being employed by Henry Wiehn, Sr. in the cigar business for a period of thirteen years. Then he engaged in the saloon business on Michigan avenue at 1101, the place now occupied by Mr. Heerman, where he remained for two years. Then he sold out and purchased the property at 614 North Eighth street where he was permanently in business up to last Thursday when he sold out to Meyer & Grau. Thursday evening he was removed to St. Nicholas hospital and the end came at the hour mentioned.

Not only did Mr. Quasius have scores of friends in this city but he was well known throughout the county and was a man prominent in local society circles being a member of the Kranken Verein, Sheboygan Mutual Aid Society, Sons of Herman, Home Order of Foresters and the Concordia Singing Society. He is survived by a wife and seven children: Oscar, Alfred, William, Hugo and Albert Jr., Miss Carrie Quasius of this city and Mrs. Toepfer of Milwaukee; two brothers, George and Charles and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Detsch of the town of Sheboygan and Mrs. August Leonard of this city.

The funeral services will be held from his late home, 1835 South Eighth street at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, the Rev. Krueger of the St. Johns church officiating. Interment will be in Wildwood cemetery. The pallbearers will be members of the several orders with which he was affiliated.

The funeral of Albert Quasius, Sr., who died early Sunday morning at the St. Nicholas hospital, was held this afternoon at 2 o'clock from his late home 1835 South Eighth street.

The Rev. Krueger of the St. John's church officiated and interment took place in Wildwood cemetery. The members of various orders and societies of which he was a member attended the funeral in a body. The pallbearers were selected from several orders.

Mrs. Matilda W. Quinlan, the mother of Mrs. M. C. Reely, of 127 south Jameson avenue, passed away at a very early hour this morning at the home of her daughter, after an illness of but one week with pneumonia. Mrs. Quinlan has been making her home in this city with her daughter since the removal to this city. The sudden death comes as a sad blow, and one unexpected.

The deceased was born in Massachusetts on the first day of July, 1829. At the time of her death she was a little more than two months short of 84 years of age. The family came to Lima from Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, and have been making their home on south Jameson avenue.

The remains of the deceased will be taken to the late home of the family at Sheboygan Falls, Wis. No funeral announcement has been made, save only that the funeral party will leave Lima at 1:27 on Sunday afternoon on the Pennsylvania railroad. The burial services will be held in Sheboygan Falls on Monday.

Mrs. Andrew Quackenboss, 79, a resident of Care Center, Fond du Lac, the past year and formerly of R. 1, St. Cloud died early today at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac, where she had been a patient for two months. The former Ida Walgenbach, she was born Jan. 26, 1896 at St. Cloud, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Feldner Walgenbach. On May 15, 1917 she married Mr. Quackenboss at St. Cloud. The couple farmed in rural St. Cloud their entire married lives. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1967. She was a member of St. Cloud Catholic Parish, its Christian Mothers Society, and a member and past officer of the Farm Bureau Women. Survivors are her husband, a resident at Care Center, Fond du Lac; three sons, Roman and Francis, both of Fond du Lac, and Allen of R. 1, St. Cloud; two daughters, mrs. Alvin (Esther) Selk of Fond du Lac and Mrs. Albert (Joan) Schad of New Holstein; 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Alois Vogds of Sheboygan Falls. A brother preceded her in death. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Cloud Church, preceded by family rites at 10 at the Huss Funeral Home, St. Cloud. The Rev. Arthur Nickolai, pastor, will be celebrant of Mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Thursday where a parish vigil will be held at 8 p.m.
