The Rev. Janett was born in Switzerland on Nov. 24, 1839, and came to America in 1867. Two years later he was licensed as a preacher from the Reformed Ohio Synod, and later ordained from the old Iowa Classics. He came to Sheboygan as pastor of Zion Reformed church in 1891 and served the congregation faithfully until 1906. It was during his pastorate that a new organ, which is still in use, and the church bells were purchased.

At the time of his ninetieth birthday celebrations, when special services were conducted in his honor at Zion church, he delivered the German sermon and his son, the late Rev.
