Eagle Carries Child Away

Source: Davenport Weekly Leader, Davenport, Iowa July 27, 1900

Sheboygan, Wis. July 26 - An eagle measuring six feet one and a half inches from tip to tip of wings was killed by T. Smith, a farmer living in the town of Sheboygan Falls. While at work he saw the great bird fly close to his children and clasp his daughter, Mary, aged 3 years. The man secured a rifle and shot the eagle. The child and bird fell to the ground, the child not being injured.
