George Thieme Not Guilty

George THIEME, charged with manslaughter, was found not guilty by a jury in the circuit court today, the verdict being read at 9 o'clock, this morning when court convened.

Mr. THIEME was in the court room when the verdict was read and a smile appeared, indicating his feeling in regard to the verdict.

The jury went out at 5:30 Tuesday afternoon and did not agree upon a verdict until 8:05 this morning.

The many friends of Mr. THIEME throughout the city will be pleased to learn of his acquittal. While he acted in the capacity of agent for the company there was a feeling that it was necessary for him to run his car at a high rate of speed in order to make the time required to be made on the Lake View run.

District Attorney COLLINS is entitled to credit for the masterly manner in which he presented the evidence which was within his reach, and the able argument made to the jury. He was pitted against two able attorneys, the former District Attorney Edward VOIGT and T. M. BOWLER.

The Press had endeavored to give the evidence in this case in an impartial manner, and with a view of enlightening the people as to what was going on. A paper makes no enemies by giving facts but on the contrary makes friends.
