A pretentious wedding took place at St. Mary's Catholic church at Cascade, Wednesday morning, Aug. 21st at half past nine o'clock, in which two popular young people of the town of Mitchell were united in holy wedlock, as well as linking together two of the best known and highly respected families of Mitchell township.
The groom was Bert Gilboy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Gilboy, while the one
he chose to complete his happiness was Miss Margaret Fitzpatrick, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick H. Fitzpatrick. The imposing ceremony was performed
by Father Regan of St. Mary's church in the presence of an assemblage of
relatives and friends that nearly filled the church. A reception to
relatives and intimate friends followed at the home of the bride's parents.
The bride was clad in white silk georgette crepe, with veil caught up with
flowers, and wore a corsage bouquet with white roses. The bridesmaid, Miss
Nora Fitzpatrick, sister of the bride, was attired in pale pink silk
georgette crepe, wearing a large white picture hat and a corsage bouquet of
pink roses. Little Mary Elizabeth Mangan of Denver, Colo., a niece of the
groom, was gowned in white silk and carried a huge basket of pink and white
sweet peas.
The groom was attended by his cousin John Henrietta of Escanaba, Mich.
A four course dinner was served to about fifty guests, the table and
apartment trimmings being pink and white. Those who assisted in serving
were the Misses Mayme Fitzpatrick of Random Lake, Mae Loftus of Kiel, Mae
Fitzpatrick of Sheboygan and Eugenie McDonnell of Plymouth.
The bride's traveling suit was of a deep mid-night blue and she wore a large
black velvet picture hat.
The guests from a distance included Mrs. Frank Mangan and daughter of
Denver, Colo.; the Misses Ella, Anna, Dora and Mike McBride, John Clifford
and Wm. Gilboy of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gilboy and family of Fond
du Lac; Mr. and Mrs. James Gilboy of Campbellsport; John and Braen
Henrietta of Escanaba, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Fitzpatrick and family and
Mr. and Mrs. Kuhn and family of Sheboygan; the Misses Mayme Fitzpatrick of
Random Lake; Mae Loftus of Kiel; Mae Fitzpatrick of Sheboygan and Eugenie
McDonnell of Plymouth.
The bride is an accomplished young lady, possessed of an amiable disposition
and excellent character. Her sweet and captivating manner has won for her a
life mate, whose worth cannot be estimated in gold or silver.
The groom is also to be congratulated on his good fortune to win the heart
and hand of so fair and gracious a companion. He is a splendid young man,
jovial and good natured and can be relied upon to make the best and most of
a worth career.
The REPORTER voices the sentiment of a throng of friends, when it states
that it wishes for the worthy young couple a generous massing in the Mortar
of Love of all the condiments of health, happiness and success.
The newly wedded pair left on an auto trip to spend a brief honeymoon
following which they will take up their abode on the farm of the parents of
the groom, to be "at home" after Sept. 20th.
