Arno M. Drews Jr. Claims Miss Coral Vergowe As Bride
California will be the future home of a couple married Saturday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Arno M. Drews Jr. The bride is
the former Miss Coral D. Vergowe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Vergowe of Adell. Parents of the bridegroom are
Mr. and Mrs. Arno Drews Sr. of Cascade.
The seven o'clock service in Hingham Reformed Church was read by the Rev. Wayne Lemmen. Miss Mary Koskamp was the
organist and she played a selection of Dutch Psalms, `Traumerei' and `O Promise Me' before the exchange of
vows in the double-ring ceremony. Mrs. Harold Kappers' solos were `The Lord's Prayer' and `Because.'
Palms and white gladioli were used for the candlelight setting.
Bridal attire was a floor-length gown of Chantilly lace and tulle over satin. The fitted bodice was styled with
short sleeves and a sweetheart neckline, accented with pleated tulle and lace, sequins and pearls having been the
adornment. Four handkerchief tiers, edged with lace, comprised the bouffant skirt. The fingertip veil of silk
illusion was attached to a lace crown, trimmed with sequins and pearls. A cascade arrangement of white glamellias
was carried.
Miss Mary Vergowe, sister of the bride, chosen as maid of honor, was dressed in lime green silk organza over
taffeta. The fitted bodice was styled with a taffeta cummerbund and a round neckline, which came to a V in back. A
taffeta bow with streamers that extended to the hemline provided back interest. White gardenias were designed in a
colonial bouquet that the attendant held.
James Drews, brother of the bridegroom, chosen for the role of best man, and two ushers, Albert Beyersdorf,
brother-in-law of the bridegroom, with Murlin Winter, completed the wedding party.
Guests, 150 in number, were entertained at the wedding reception that was held at Weyer's Resort, Lake Ellen,
Cascade. They included Kenneth Martin from San Francisco, Calif.; the Rev. and Mrs. Neal Clement, Brillion, and
others from Milwaukee, Hartford, St. Cloud and Plymouth.
En route to the West, the couple will stop at the Black Hills, Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. Address
in Torrance, Calif., will be 22938 Kent Ave.
A graduate of Plymouth High School, the bride also was a student at Lakeland Business College and has been doing
secretarial work at Wisconsin Telephone Co. office in Sheboygan. Mr. Drews has as his alma maters, Central High
School, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and Stanford University, Stanford, Calif., where he received his B. S. and
M. A. Degrees, respectively. He is employed as a teaching assistant principal in Inglewood Unified School District
in Inglewood.
