Sgt. J. W. Hammes Takes Bride In Grand Island, Neb.

Sgt. and Mrs. Jack W. Hammes are now at home at 406 E. Fifth street, Grand Island, Neb. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. George Hammes, 902 Z court, Sheboygan.

Before the marriage which was performed by the Rev. Albert Godlewski on June 16 at the St. Mary's cathedral in Grand Island, Mrs. Hammes was Miss Mary Ellen McLain, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen McLain of Spalding, Neb., and her father presented her in marriage. Miss Lucille McLain, the bride's sister, was the maid of honor, and S/Sgt. Allen J. Haydell of Louisiana was the best man.

After the nuptial mass and double ring ceremony, a luncheon was served to the immediate families in the Oriental room of the Hotel Stratton, and during the evening a reception was held at the home of the couple.

In 1942 Sgt. Hammes graduated from North High school and later he enlisted in the air corps. For the past year and one-half he has been a senior control tower operator with the 106th Airways Communications squadron at the Grand Island army air field.
