At a seven o'clock candlelight service on Saturday evening, Miss Carol Jean Kiel became the bride of Lt. William A. Bahr. The Rev. H.J.A. Bouman read the nuptials at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin P. Kiel, 2212 S. 11th St., and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar H. Bahr, Route 4, Kohler, Memorial Drive, are the bridegroom's parents.
Miss Dorothy Kupke, a sorority sister, was the bride's maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Gelaine Kiel, cousin of the bride, Miss Lois Papendieck and Mrs. Donald Minsloff, sister of the bridegroom. Diane Kiel and Donald Piler, cousins of the bride, were seen in roles of flower girl and ring bearer, respectively.
Ferdinand Bahr was his brother's best man while groomsmen, who doubled as ushers, were John Koepke and Wilfred Fritz, fraternity brothers of the bridegroom, and Raymond Kiel, the bride's uncle.
During the service, "The Lord's Prayer" was sung by Mrs. Donald Behnken and Immanuel Lutheran A Capella Choir sang "O Perfect Love." Donald Behnken accompanied them at the organ.
Powers Club Heidelberg Restaurant was the scene of the evening wedding reception for 250 friends and relatives. A dinner was served for 27 guests at the Grand Hotel the previous evening.
After graduating from Central High School in 1948, the bride attended Valparaiso University where she was affiliated with Gamma Phi sorority. Prior to her marriage, she was a representative at the Wisconsin Telephone Company.
Kohler High School and Valparaiso University are alma maters of the bridegroom, who recently graduated from Officers' Candidate School in Fort Riley, Kans., as a distinguished graduate. He will now undergo three months of specialized training in the chemical corps at Fort McClellan, Ala., where the newly-weds will reside after Dec. 13.
Guests from beyond Sheboygan and Manitowoc for the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Badtke and Donald, Sister Bay; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Martin and Earl Jr., Green Bay; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Minsloff, Marinette; Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Fritz, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Voss and Miss Kupke, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Badtke, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Badtke, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Schrameyer and Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Heinecke, Milwaukee, and John Koepke, Valparaiso, Ind.
