Plymouth Ceremony Unites Miss Marotz, R. J. Smith
The wedding of Miss Patricia Ann Marotz and Richard J. Smith took place at
10:30 o'clock Saturday morning at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in
Plymouth.
Bouquets of iris and peonies decorated the main altar of the church for the
service which included celebration of a nuptial Mass by the Rev. Lawrance J.
Waleske, officiant.
John Prindiville, organist, played a prelude of music arranged by Rossini and
also accompanied the singers, Mrs. James Landgraf and Harold Ziegler, who
sang the Mass. Mrs. Landgraf was heard in "Ave Maria" at the offertory and
following the Mass, Mr. Ziegler presented "On This Day O Beautiful Mother,"
sung as the bride placed a presentation bouquet of white carnations.
In front pews were parents of the principals, Mr. and Mrs. William E. Marotz,
207 Mead Ave., and Mr. and Mrs. John A. Smith, 631 Riverview Dr., all of
Plymouth. Mr. Marotz presented his daughter in the service.
The bride appeared in a gown of nylon organza and lace designed with an
organza bodice augmented with lace overlay. A sabrina neckline and short
lace sleeves were other bodice details. An overskirt highlighted with lace
rosettes distinguished the skirt marked at the hem with flounces of lace and
sheer. A bouffant veil of silk illusion draped from a coronet of seed pearls
and crystals and she carried a crescent of white roses and stephanotis.
Miss Barbara Marotz served her sister as maid of honor and Miss Shirley Lasek
had the role of bridesmaid. Both wore aqua frocks of satapeau made with a
large cabbage rose at the front of the dome-silhouette skirt. The fitted
bodice had a set-in midriff, draped cowl neckline and short sleeves. A crown
of pearled Italian filigree and braid held their short veils in matching aqua
and their bouquets were fashioned of yellow roses and stephanotis.
John Smith attended his son as best man and the groomsman was William Marotz,
the bride's brother. Ushers were Tom Weber of West Bend, a cousin of the
bridegroom, and Keith Rosche of Plymouth.
A buffet luncheon was held at the Hotel Mitchell for 150 guests. Among those
present were Mrs. Edna Marotz, grandmother of the bride, who came from
Pennsylvania, and others from St. Paul, Minn., Antigo and Milwaukee, Wis.
After a short honeymoon trip to Wisconsin Dells, Mr. and Mrs. Smith are at
home at 631 1/2 Riverview Dr., Plymouth. Both are graduates of Plymouth High
School; the bridegroom is a student at Lakeland College.
