Miss Violet Butzen Is Bride Of Frank J. Lohr Jr.

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Town Wilson was the nuptial scene Saturday, July 21, for Miss Violet Butzen and Frank J. Lohr Jr. Palms on the side of the altar and two bouquets of flowers on it were the decor for the all-white service that was read at 2:30 o'clock by the Rev. Waldemar Stoehr. Music for the service was provided by H.C. Rommelmann, organist, and Miss Mary Senkbeil, vocalist. Her selections were "The Lord's Prayer" and "The Good Shepherd."

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Butzen, Route 3, Sheboygan, and Mr. and Mrs. Lohr Sr., 2313 S. 8th St. are parents of the other principal in the ceremony of marriage.

Embroidered organdy fashioned the floor-length bridal gown, which had a fitted bodice, a delicately scalloped picture neckline and tiny cap sleeves. Matching gauntlets were worn. The skirt had three billowing tiers that drifted into a chapel-length train. Finely-pleated nylon tulle was used for the crown-type headpiece, which had a band of fine lace trimmed with pearls and sequins. A veil of bridal illusion was attached to it. White feathered carnations and variegated foliage were used for the bride's bouquet, which had a white orchid in the center of it.

A trio preceded the bride to the front of the church. Mrs. Jene Kissel, matron of honor, and Miss Frances Raml, bridesmaid, were similarly garbed in ballerina-length dresses of white organdy over white taffeta. Taffeta was used for the cummerbunds, which had large bows in back. The matching half hats had daisy crowns. The white miniature fireside baskets they carried were filled with pale pink carnations and greens. The flower girl, Patricia Brestrich, niece of the bride, was attired in a nylon and all-over lace frock. The bodice and pleated part around neck and shoulders were of lace. The hoop skirt of nylon net and lace was shirred and a narrow ribbon edged it. Mitts substituted for sleeves. A clip-style headband of pearls and veiling comprised her headpiece. Pink and white carnations were placed in a small petal basket she held. Rings were carried by Michael Conto, nephew of the bridegroom, on a white satin pillow.

Kenneth Kornetzke came from Chicago to assume duties of best man. A brother of the bride, Robert Butzen, was groomsman. Relatives of the couple, Guenther Brestrich, the bride's brother-in-law, and Eugene Ver Velde, a cousin of the bridegroom, showed guests to places.

Town Wilson Hall was the scene of wedding festivities to which 400 relatives and friends were invited. A buffet supper was served between six and eight o'clock, followed by a reception. Guests from other cities were Mr. and Mrs. John Conto, La Crosse; Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Johnson, Mrs. William Butzen, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Butzen, Milwaukee, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Biesemeyer, Manitowoc. Northern Wisconsin was the place to which Mr. Lohr took his bride for the honeymoon. The address of the couple, since Monday, is Route 3, S. 16th St. Central High School is the alma mater of the bridal pair, the former Miss Butzen having been graduated in 1951, her husband the previous year. She is a stenographer at the superintendent of schools office in the court house and Mr. Lohr is employed at Wisconsin Telephone Co.
