SKELTON-PAYNE NUPTIALS
A pretty event was the wedding of Joseph Skelton and Miss Eva Payne on
Wednesday morning Oct. 30th, 1907 at 10 o'clock at the St. Mary's church,
Rev. B.J. Burke officiating. The couple were attended by Mr. and Mrs.
Daniel Calvey the grooms sister and brother-in-law. The wedding was a quiet
affair attended by only a few relatives of the two families. The groom is a
son of Wm. Skelton a prosper (sic) farmer of Mitchell. The lady of his
choice is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clark Payne of Mitchell a well-to-do
farmer. The fair bride is well-known in Mitchell and Lyndon and has many
friends. After a few minutes were spent in congratulations the happy couple
and all passed to the dining room where ample justice was done to a
bountiful dinner which had been well prepared for the occasion. Mr. and
Mrs. Skelton have many friends who unite in wishing them a prosperous and
happy voyage through life. The happy couple took the train for Gladstone,
Michigan where they will spend a few weeks visiting their relatives. After
they return home they will make their home with the groom's father, Wm.
Skelton and take care of the farm.
