A very pretty wedding was solemnized at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas
Strong at Cascade, Tuesday, when their daughter Miss Mae Agnes Strong and
Paul Francis McMullen were united in the holy bonds of matrimony by Rev.
Chas. Hoog. The bride, prettily attired in a suit of seal brown broadcloth
and a gold lace hat, was attended by Miss Agnes McMullen, who was gowned in
blue broadcloth trimmed with seal fur and wore a white hat. Corsage
bouquets of white and pink sweet peas were worn by the bride and the
maid-of-honor respectively. The groom was attended by Edward Strong. Miss
Lila Schultz played the wedding march. The ceremony was followed by a
wedding dinner and reception at the bride's home at which immediate
relatives and neighbors were guests, Mrs. James Gill and Misses Margaret
Fitzpatrick and Rose Mulvey serving the wedding dinner. Decorations in
keeping with the season were utilized in the parlor while in the dining room
a color scheme of pink and white was carried out. Ferns and cut flowers
were used in abundance and a most pleasing effect was created. After the
dinner the guests passed the afternoon with amusements of various sorts,
there being both piano and violin music and a number of vocal selections
were offered as well. The happy couple departed for Waldo in time to
catch the afternoon train, leaving on an extended wedding trip to different
points of interest.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Strong and is a popular
young lady possessed of many charming attributes and well liked by all who
know her. The groom, the son of Mrs. Catherine McMullen, comes from a
family of pioneers and the union no doubt will be a most happy one. The
couple received many wedding presents, both useful and valuable from their
relatives and many friends, who will wish them all happiness and prosperity
in their married life. On their return from the wedding trip they will take
up their residence on the McMullen farm near Beechwood and will be "at home"
to their many friends after Feb. 1st. Among those present at the nuptials
were the following Mr. and Mrs. A.J. McMullen of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs.
T.E. Phalen of Osceola and Miss Agnes McMullen of Silver Creek.
